Living in modern-day Mexico to avoid suspicion, a vengeful fallen angel accidentally lets his powers be known when he saves his friends from a gang-attack and draws a government agent to his situation who enlists his human friends to help treat him.
This was a pretty enjoyable affair over with some good points about it. One of the best is that it has several rather enjoyable action scenes in here which manage to make the pace here quite a bit of fun. The most notable is a shootout at a crowded mall that turns into a pretty thrilling chase that has enough about it to make it memorable and gets better outside in the parking-lot abduction, although the more horror- based encounters are much more enjoyable. The opening freak-out to stop the criminal gang with the flying objects, crackling electricity and exploding objects is a nice juxtaposition against the numerous scenes showing off Angelic sculptures and artwork makes for a great opening, while another spectacular sequence when he destroys a group of punks tormenting his friends in a wild manner, full of demonic howling, brawling, throwing people around into furniture across the room and snapping bones, spraying blood all over the place as well as an attempted rape thrown in for good measure makes this quite a highlight. As well, there's some pretty suspenseful series of attacks in the government compound's darkened hallways which results in some good action scenes, a couple really good deaths with rather nice gore scattered throughout and a fantastic sense of resolution to the plot. The transformation scene is fine and the make-up for it is impressive as well, yet it does have some flaws. He biggest issue here is the film's way too convoluted and scattershot in regards to its plot, which has a ton of ideas to present, not enough time to devote to each and too many that shouldn't have been there to begin with as that removes from what should've come out. As well, we don't get a whole lot to really dig into as it's really talky in parts and is a little low on action. Overall, it's not too bad as is but could've used a little more to work with.
Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Language, Brief Nudity and an attempted Rape.
