- TriviaThe movie was somehow considered prophetic. In that year, the Colombian soccer team lost several games in the Japan Korea 2002 World Cup qualifiers and many for the final round of penalty kicks. Colombia would not participate in a soccer World Cup again until Brazil 2014.
- GoofsThe film indicates that the Colombian soccer team plays the World Cup qualifying matches at the El Campin Stadium in the city of Bogotá. The matches of the Colombian soccer team are played at the Metropolitan Stadium in the city of Barranquilla. (Although not in the 2000s)

Colombia can gives a lot of beautiful and intelligent films like "La Estrategia del Caracol", "Funeral Siniestro" or "La Primera Noche". I was so excited when i see for the first time "La Pena Maxima"... but after all, i think that is only garbage... not even good performances can save it. This movie is not clever, is not funny... is just the opposite: is ridiculous and unfunny.
The story told us about a man (Enrique Carriazo) who, with his brother, and as a lot of Colombian people, loves soccer (Here, the plot is great, because can treat a great topic) ... one day, in an important soccer encounter, he bets a lot of money which he and his wife (Beautiful Sandra Reyes) have saving for a long, long time. At the same time, he must go to a funeral. What he going to do... to go to the soccer game? ... Please, don't ask! The development of the plot is absurd... and i love absurd movies, but this one is not a good one. Don't makes me laugh. And, after all thats not the point. It doesn't matters if the movie don't makes me laugh, the important is watch a movie that tell us a good story, but this one is no more than pathetic. Watch it then if you dare... sincerely, i prefer play soccer at the park with my friends.
*Sorry for the mistakes...well, if there any.
