The show was considered lost media for many years. In 2021, a crew member from the show sent every episode to a fan who released the episodes periodically on his YouTube channel, with the final episode being released on December 31st of that year.
The show was cancelled after two of the thirteen completed episodes aired.
After the closure of Adelaide Productions in 2014, the rights are now held by Sony Pictures Animation.
Sammy (2000) is the only animated series produced by Sony Pictures Animation for National Broadcasting Company (NBC).
