It’s been less than 24 hours since production wrapped on the 76th Emmy Awards, but Jesse Collins and his fellow executive producers are already on the go — specifically, to New Orleans. The team is flying to the Big Easy on Tuesday to scout the Superdome as they plan next February’s Super Bowl Lix halftime show, starring Kendrick Lamar.
“It’s our first time with the artist team,” notes Jesse Collins Entertainment prexy Dionne Harmon. “We’ve actually been a few times already in preparation, but since the announcement, it’s the first time Kendrick’s team and us will all come together.”
Adds Jeannae Rouzan-Clay, Jesse Collins Entertainment’s senior VP of specials, “There’s always something going on!” And she’s not wrong: Also on Monday, BET just announced that its annual BET Hip Hop Awards — which Collins, Harmon and Rouzan-Clay also exec produce — is making a big...

The heated on-air dispute last night between MSNBC’s Ari Melber and Donald Trump campaign adviser Corey Lewandowski didn’t end with Wednesday’s segment: Today, Lewandowski tweeted a video in an attempt to prove his point.
On Wednesday’s The Beat with Ari Melber, Lewandowski deflected Melber’s questions about his testimony during the House Judiciary Committee hearing that he had made false claims to the media about his involvement on Trump’s behalf during the Mueller investigation. Instead of addressing that question, Lewandowski repeatedly accused Melber of previously stating that Trump’s bandage was used as a “prop” and “just for spectacle.”
After much back-and-forth, Melber addressed Lewandowski’s accusation by stating that the “prop” reference was a quote from a New York Times article that Melber read on-air and attributed to the newspaper. The quote from a Times column referred to Trump as “his own biggest prop...

The Dcau has very rarely disappointed fans. With the perfect balance of fan service, good storytelling, and experimentation, the vastness of DC’s animated universe is truly amazing. Having been going strong, long before live-action adaptations of these works began, these projects have acted as the only source of light in these dark times in the superhero world.
A still from Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths
The most recent addition to this universe was Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths—Part One, which is the first in a three-part adaptation of the legendary comic book storyline. When a plot as iconic as Crisis on Infinite Earths is being adapted into any medium, fans are bound to get nervous. However, the animated movie has met all of its expectations and then some.

From sitcoms to superhero movies, the concept of multiverse is now every director’s favorite, it seems. From the world of animation to Hollywood, multiverses are really popular nowadays. However, Dcau filmmakers are not pretty happy about this special concept turning into an everyday theme.
A still from Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths- Part One
DC Animated Universe (Dcau) started in 1992 and ended in 2006. However, filmmakers are still using comics to make animated movies and fans are really positive towards these kinds of movies. Exploring a wide variety of characters and concepts is fun after all. But, it looks like the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths filmmakers never really wanted others to normalize the concept of the multiverse.

The multiverse is something that is largely at play these days. From the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Rick and Morty, numerous franchises are currently using this element. While DC has been no stranger to it, the screen adaptation might have taken a little longer than others.
A still from Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths
DC Comics’ twelve-issue crossover series Crisis on Infinite Earths by Marv Wolfman & George Pérez has undoubtedly been revolutionary for the DC Universe. With co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran rebooting the franchise, it seems fair that the comic series is finally being adapted into animated movies. However, there are a lot of scenes from the original script that will never see the light of the day.

MSNBC revealed “breaking news” regarding the newest indictment of Sen. Bob Menendez (D-New Jersey). Unfortunately, this happened while his daughter and MSNBC anchor, Alicia Menendez, was hosting the MSNBC show Deadline: White House.
Alicia announced this “breaking news” during the last five minutes of Deadline: White House‘s Tuesday edition. She was filling in for the show’s host, Nicole Wallace.
The senator was indicted in September 2023 on charges of bribery, and he pleaded not guilty.
Federal government officials stated that he and his wife, Nadine Arslanian, took bribes in the form of cash, gold bars and a convertible. Prosecutors accused the senator of relying on his position as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to further the Egyptian government’s interests.
The Department of Justice also claimed that the senator was given luxury wristwatches and Formula One tickets, which he got in exchange for having promoted the Qatari government.

CNN, whose brief foray into subscription streaming was snuffed out shortly after the close of the WarnerMedia-Discovery merger in April 2022, is officially getting real estate on Max.
A new offering, CNN Max, will be added to the streaming service in what Warner Bros. Discovery called an “open beta” on September 27. It will consist of a 24/7 stream pulled from the news network’s U.S. and international feeds, with a sprinkling of original fare, with user feedback welcomed. For many reasons, some having to do with contracts with pay-tv operators, it won’t be a full-over-the top version of linear CNN, and certain talent and new shows like the new 9 p.m. hour hosted by Kaitlan Collins will not be in the mix.
Wbd CEO David Zaslav hinted at the new venture during the company’s quarterly earnings call several weeks ago, saying news and sports make SVOD platforms “come alive.

Christopher Nolan, on the eve of the nationwide release of his blockbuster atomic bomb origin story “Oppenheimer,” said the specter of nuclear war is the “worst it’s ever been.”
Nolan, in an interview on MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber,” called it a “constant threat that is never going to go away and needs to be managed continually.”
“Oppenheimer” is a historical epic that tells the story of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb played by Cillian Murphy.

As more and more lavish gifts to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas from billionaire Republican donor Harlan Crow are being unearthed, Ari Melber, host of MSNBC’s “The Beat” and chief legal correspondent, took an opportunity to call out Thomas directly — and bluntly — on Thursday.
“Do you think you will get away with this forever?” the MSNBC host asked, looking down the camera.
In early April, Propublica reported that for more than 20 years, Thomas was treated to expensive luxury vacations by Texas billionaire Harlan Crow. The issue is, Thomas never once reported said gifts on his financial disclosures. Then, a few weeks later, it was revealed that, in 2014, Thomas made more than $130,000 when he sold several properties to Crow — an amount far in excess of their value. This included the house Thomas’ mother currently lives in.

The new New York studio that Nexstar Media Group built for Elizabeth Vargas’ nascent NewsNation program is so big, the anchor believes she could do five cartwheels across if called upon to do so. Starting Monday night, the company begins the process of figuring out if such rigorous calisthenics will be necessary.
TV-news aficionados likely know Vargas from her 15-year stint as a co-anchor on ABC News’ “20/20,” but on Monday night, she will jump right into the fray in the information wars, with a program at 6 p.m. eastern – a time slot that has become more competitive in recent months. At MSNBC, for example, Ari Melber’s “The Beat” has become one of that network’s most-watched programs. Late-afternoon has become more of a cable-news battlefield as viewers who have learned to work from home after the coronavirus pandemic tune in earlier to get a recap of the day’s events.

Richard Belzer played the character of Detective John Munch for nearly 30 years, popping up as Munch in various TV shows that span across genres. Belzer felt like an actor who would just be around forever, which made his recent death at the age of 78 all the more melancholy. But while Belzer may be gone, his legacy lives on. And now, USA Network will pay tribute to the late actor by airing a "Munch-a-thon" that will feature 10 of Belzer's best episodes from "Law & Order: Svu." I confess I haven't watched any form of "Law & Order" in years, but Munch was always one of my favorite characters, so I might have to tune in and check this out.

The world recently lost a talented comedian, a gifted actor, and an all-around incredible human being when Richard Belzer passed away at the age of 78. Belzer was a former audience warm-up comedian for "Saturday Night Live," and his knack for bringing the funnies helped make his most memorable character, Bpd Detective, NYPD Detective/Sergeant, and Da Investigator John Munch, everyone's favorite fictional member of law enforcement. The television empire of cop dramas from executive producer Dick Wolf has made household names of characters like Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson, Christopher Meloni's Elliot Stabler, and Ice-t's Odafin Tutuola -- but Belzer's John Munch is in a class all his own.

Belzer played the role of John Munch for 23 years on Homicide: Life on the Streets and Law & Order, starting in 1993. The Connecticut-born comedian retired from acting in 2016 and the age of 71.
Universal Television and NBC issued a joint statement on Sunday offering condolences.
“Anyone who ever had the pleasure of watching Richard Belzer portray Det. John Munch — whether on ‘Homicide’ or ‘Law & Order: Svu’ – over four decades will never forget how much he inhabited that beloved...

After dropping a rare and nearly instantly beloved four-minute verse on the title track of DJ Khaled’s latest album, “God Did,” rap veteran Jay-Z joined Khaled, journalists Rob Markman and Ari Melber, and more for an even rarer public conversation inspired by the song via Twitter Spaces on Wednesday night. In it, Jay discussed his ascent from poverty to billionaire status — and seemed to respond to critics who have called the mogul and his ilk capitalists.

November turned out to be a huge month for the cable news networks, as all three major outlets touted ratings milestones with the boost from Election Day and its aftermath.
The question, of course, is whether these levels will be sustained once Joe Biden takes office with the implicit promise of a return to normal news cycles.
CNN saw the greatest growth in its primetime numbers, jumping by 180% from November, 2019, to 2.8 million total viewers, in what it said was its most watched month ever. The figures are from Nielsen and come from Fox News and CNN.
Fox News still led handily in primetime and was up a robust 41% with 3.94 million total viewers, in what the network said was its highest rated November ever. MSNBC also jumped, up 29% to 2.7 million viewers, in what the network also said was its highest rated month ever.

Andre Brown was leaving his sister’s house on Memorial Day when he misjudged the location of a railing and fell down a flight of stairs. A friend jumped over the railing to prevent the 56-year-old from hitting his head. While Brown damaged his right ankle, he laughed off the unfortunate slip as just another embarrassing moment.
Yet the accident would kickstart a dangerous new phase of his life. A doctor who was treating his ankle noticed an infection forming and told Brown to go to the hospital. “The infection...

Though the Gambit movie has gone through many directors over the years, the one who arguably came closest to getting the cameras rolling for this long-gestating project was Rise of the Planet of the Apes helmsman Rupert Wyatt. And if you’re wondering why the filmmaker couldn’t go all the way with the movie, his answer is a familiar menace of recent superhero cinema, the 2015 Fantastic Four.
To this day, director Josh Trank laments how his take on Marvel’s first family turned out, and in an interview with The Beat, Wyatt didn’t seem to thrilled with the results either, recalling how the movie’s lackluster box office performance essentially prevented Gambit from going into production.
“I was very close with Channing Tatum and his producing partner Reid Carolin, and I was on the script with him and Josh Zetumer as a writer. We were close, I believe 10 weeks away.

I’m quite certain there is no one else in television like Richard Belzer. This man is dedicated and if you dare say otherwise than we’re going to have a problem. Belzer has been playing the same character for more than twenty years and is only now cutting down his time on Law & Order: Svu. But what’s that, you say? Svu has only been on the air for fifteen seasons and Belzer couldn’t possibly have played his character of John Munch for longer. Au contraire; Belzer first began portraying Munch on Homicide: Life on the Street back in 1993 before jumping ship to Svu. Are you starting to see the dedication?
While it’s true Belzer will no longer be a series regular on Svu, as per the Huffington Post, he will continue to make appearances every now and then in a recurring capacity because he really is...

He’s been Detective John Munch since “Law & Order: Svu” got started in 1999, and now it’s time for Richard Belzer to move on.
The 69-year-old actor will officially be done with the gig after the October 16th episode, though he’ll likely return for guest spots in future seasons.
Interestingly enough, Belzer created the Munch character for a show called “Homicide: Life on the Street” back in 1993, and then brought it with him for Svu.
Additionally, Richard has appeared on “The Beat,” “The Wire,” and “The X Files,” as Munch, making him a fairly prolific pop culture personality.

After playing Detective John Munch in a record 10 shows since 1993, Richard Belzer leaves the force on a special episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" Wednesday (Oct. 16).
Belzer, who plays the sardonic detective, and Warren Leight, "Svu's" executive producer, spoke exclusively with Zap2it explaining why and how he will exit.
"It's painful," Leight says in the lobby of a Times Square theater, where he was overseeing a forthcoming episode. "In the real world, which we try to very hard to simulate, NYPD has mandatory retirement before your 63rd birthday. And we were trying to figure out how to deal with it. The reason NYPD does it is because you can't have 65-year-old guys running after guys. It is a hard and fast rule.
"It creates some pathos and sadness," Leight says of losing this mainstay character. "I love writing for Munch. I started out as a comedy writer and he's closest,...
