This is the second movie directed by Robert Townsend where he also starred as a superhero. The first was The Meteor Man (1993). In both films, he also has a cast member from The Jeffersons playing one of his parents. In Meteor Man, his mother is played by Marla Gibbs. In this film, his father is played by Sherman Hemsley.
Some of the actors playing parents are not the appropriate age for the actors playing their children. Sherman Hemsley and Joan Pringle play the parents of Robert Townsend and the age differences are 19 and 12 years respectively. Robert Townsend and Alex Datcher play the parents of Kasan Butcher, and their age differences are 16 and 11 years respectively.
