Entered the 1970 Locarno Film Festival.
Film debut of Mariangela Melato.
Italian film reviewer Paolo Mereghetti defined the movie "unclassifiable", and "without any possible comparison in contemporary cinema".
Avati considera this a "cursed" film, as he suffered several personal tragedies, both familiar and monetary, during its realization.
Mariangela Melato arrived on set almost by chance, to replace the original actress hired for the role of Zoe, who had to rush back to Milan. Avati didn't like her and didn't want her for the role, but she remained all night long waiting for an audition. At first Avati gave her a chance only out of respect for her determination, but he immediately realized that she was more talented than all the other actors at his disposal, and decided to hire her.
