Polly Bergen: 'Desperate Housewives' Emmy nominee; winner for 'The Helen Morgan Story' (photo: Felicity Huffman, Doug Savant, and Polly Bergen in 'Desperate Housewives') (See previous article: "Polly Bergen: Actress on Richard Nixon 'Enemies List'.") Polly Bergen began her lengthy — and to some extent prestigious — television career in 1950, making sporadic appearances in anthology series. She won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Single Performance – Lead or Supporting — beating Julie Andrews, Helen Hayes, Teresa Wright, and Piper Laurie — for playing troubled torch singer Helen Morgan (Show Boat) in the 1957 Playhouse 90 episode "The Helen Morgan Story," featuring veteran Sylvia Sidney as Morgan's mother. Curiously, Bergen's retelling of Helen Morgan's story was broadcast the same year that Ann Blyth starred in Michael Curtiz's Morgan biopic. Also titled The Helen Morgan Story, the film focused on the relationship between the singer and a...

In the past few days in WWE we have seen the return of The Undertaker, WWE trying to start a feud with a talk show host, and perhaps the greatest wrestling match on Raw in years.
It has been a busy few days on the Road to Wrestlemania, yet despite one match being set in stone, still the card for the big show looks as confused as ever.
On Monday Night Raw we saw a ‘fight’ between Paul Heyman and Vince McMahon to set up a rematch we all saw coming. We also had developments in the feud for the World Heavyweight Championship, and the match between Cm Punk and John Cena for the number one contender’s spot for the WWE Title.
While we found out who The Rock would be facing come April 7 in New Jersey, the majority of the locker room still seem to be without direction on the road to Wrestlemania.

And so as the lights went down on Elimination Chamber 2013, the final hurdle was removed, and once again the wrestling world can begin on the road to Wrestlemania.
On April 7, Wrestlemania 2013, the show-piece event of the wrestling calendar, will descend on the MetLife stadium in New Jersey. 90,000 wrestling fans will pack into the venue, with many more millions around the world watching. At its best Wrestlemania is where legends are made and stars are born, where superstars such as Bret Hart, Stone Cold, The Undertaker and “Macho Man” Randy Savage wrote their names into history.
Can any of the present day roster take their chance this year to do the same? Will any of them even get the chance with a raft of part time superstars returning for the big show? Who will face who in New Jersey? Where will the titles be decided, and which feuds will reach boiling point?...

The post-Elimination Chamber Raw was actually really good. It had its problems, but overall, not a bad episode. There were some glaring flaws, though, and of course the ending surprise has caused a dispute among wrestling fans. I will give this Raw credit as for the first time in weeks, I eased off the fast-forward button and actually looked forward to seeing what would unfold. Maybe the Road to Wrestlemania is finally taking shape and we are along for the ride.
Opening Segment
John Cena comes to the ring and talks about the stars aligning and he’s going to Wrestlemania to take on the Rock, yadda, yadda, Twice in a Lifetime, blah. Luckily, Cm Punk comes out fairly quickly to interrupt the celebration. I enjoyed the way that Cm Punk gave props to The Rock for beating him, although he did it in a Punkish way. He brought...

February’s WWE Elimination chamber is in the history books and we are finally heading on the final road towards Wrestlemania. 48 days and counting until the big event in New Jersy, how is it taking shape? Did the Elimination chamber do its job and provide a logical final pay per view before Mania?
The Elimination Chamber card kicked off with Alberto Del Rio taking on The Big Show. Let me start by saying I think this was poor judgment on the part of the company to have these two wrestle in a singles match with no stipulations after there first two encounters were both stipulated. Del Rio has got surprisingly over as a face and it does look as though he is set to go into Mania with the title whilst Big Show gets more boring every time I see him, hopefully he won’t have a role to play on next month’s card.

The legendary New York soccer team, the New York Cosmos, most famous as the team that “brought Pelé to America,” will be the subject of a feature film in development, with Caroline Rowland, director of the official London 2012 Olympics film First (which receives its world premiere in London tonight, Nov 6), in talks to direct. The Cosmos have already been the subject of one successful documentary, Once In A Lifetime (2006), which looked at the team’s rise and fall in the 1970s and 1980s; this looks to be a scripted feature film, with the working title, Twice In A Lifetime. It'll be impossible to make a film about the...
