Another year of Grammy nominations, another year of K-pop fans having to cope with the fact that none of their favorite performers made it in.

Solo artists Jung Kook, Rm, and Jimin were all eligible to be nominated at the 2025 Grammys, but they were ignored when the noms were announced on Friday, Nov. 8 by the Recording Academy — see the full list. So why isn’t K-pop music taken more seriously at the Grammys?

Jimin and Jung Kook both broke streaming records with their singles “Like Crazy” and “Seven,” respectively, and Rm was added to many respectable “best of” lists at music publications for his album “Right Place, Wrong Person.” South Korean artists are clearly here to stay, so perhaps it’s just a matter of opening up the eyes (and the ears) of the Recording Academy members by introducing them to new styles of music they may not have grown up with.

More than 1,300 music fans voted for their favorite achievements across 27 categories at the 5th Annual Gold Derby Music Awards, and Charli Xcx has dominated the list with 11 nominations, including Artist, Album (“Brat”), Record (“360”), and Song of the Year (“360”). K-Pop boy group Stray Kids has reunited with Tommy Hilfiger for a new Spring 2024 campaign.

Photographed by Sean Thomas, the eight-member group found a moment away from global tour dates and releasing Billboard 200 No. 1 albums to take over the 36th floor of the Conrad Seoul Hotel to take part in their second campaign shoot with the brand.

The campaign features members Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Felix, Seungmin and I.N decked out in head-to-toe Hilfiger looks that radiate the brand’s classic preppy identity. Group member Han was absent from the campaign due to “exhibiting sudden symptoms of a cold” and “scheduling difficulties,” the group’s label announced in a statement on their social media.

“The World” achieved 152,000 equivalent album units based on the combination of its traditional album sales, individual track sales and online streaming performance, but like most K-pop efforts, this collection achieved its units mostly through traditional sales of collectible CDs and vinyls. Carry-overs round out this week’s top five. Taylor Swift‘s “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” is back down to number-two with 101,000 units after rising back to the top spot last week.

Stray Kids are no strangers to the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart. They debuted at number-one with “Oddinary” and “Maxident” in 2022 and then “5-Star” earlier in 2023. “Rock-Star” got started with 224,000 equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streaming performance. Most of those units came from collectible CD variants. It makes Stray Kids the first musical act since Alicia Keys in the 2000s to debut their first four albums at number-one. It also marks the 22nd non-English language album to top the chart, a number that’s growing fast as Spanish and Korean music have enjoyed unprecedented crossover success in recent years.

Mumbai, March 6 (Ians) Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra has wrapped up shooting of her upcoming film ‘Chamkila’, in which she will be sharing screen with Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh. The film has been directed by Imtiaz Ali, who is known for films such as ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Tamasha’.

The film marks the first collaboration between Parineeti and Diljit, who are set to portray the greatest singers from Punjab in the movie. While Diljit is set to portray the titular character, Parineeti will be seen portraying the character of Amarjot Kaur. The film has been extensively shot in Punjab.

Parineeti took to the story section of her Instagram and expressed gratitude towards the entire crew of the film and shared her experience on social media. Post Malone’s father has insisted that the musician is the “healthiest he’s been in years”, following fan concern surrounding his recent weight loss.

Fans had noticed that the “Rockstar” artist seemed to have lost significant amounts of weight during recent appearances on tour in Australia.

While some people had speculated on social media about the reason for the change in Malone’s appereance, those close to the rapper have offered some clarification.

Responding to an Instagram post questioning Malone’s health, the artist’s father Rich Post wrote: “Healthiest he’s been in years! Mentally and physically.”

TMZ also reported that sources “close to” Malone have offered the same explanation.

According to the outlet, Malone (real name Austin Richard Post) had previously gained weight for a film role, and has subsequently adopted a strict diet and workout regimine, while undergoing a busy and physically demanding tour schedule.

Popular Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra has two projects based on real-life stories in the works.

“Chamkila” is a biopic on Punjabi singer-songwriter pop star duo Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur, who shot to fame in the 1980s recording and performing songs that were social commentaries or devotionals, and which became massive hits. The duo was gunned down in Mehsampur village, Punjab, in 1988. Their assassination remains an unsolved mystery and was the subject of Kabir Singh Chowdhry’s 2018 mockumentary “Mehsampur.”

“Chamkila,” produced by Reliance Entertainment, is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, known for “Jab We Met” (2007), “Love Aaj Kal” (2009), “Rockstar” (2011) and “Highway” (2014). Pop star and actor Diljit Dosjanh (Netflix original film “Jogi”) plays Chamkila while Chopra plays Kaur.

“Diljit and I are going to be singing throughout the film. We’re doing like 12-15 songs because it’s a film on music. We’re doing live recordings on set.

A Florida jury has found DaBaby to be not liable for breach of contract, battery, and defamation in a 6 million federal lawsuit stemming from an incident at a Miami nightclub in January 2020, according to documents obtained by Rolling Stone. The verdict arrived after a five-day trial.

An actor, director, musician and activist, Labaki has carved a distinctive path on the international film circuit. As a child, she would spend hours at a small theater run by her grandfather, in the dark but never alone, lit by the images flickering on screen. From that young age, Labaki knew that she wanted to pursue filmmaking, though the circumstances of Lebanon’s wartorn 1980s didn’t always make such opportunities apparent.

Lebanese writer-director and actor Nadine Labaki and Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor are set to be honored with Variety International Vanguard Awards at the upcoming second edition of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival.

Labaki’s first feature, “Caramel,” was set in a Beirut beauty salon, and premiered in the Cannes Director’s Fortnight section in 2007, followed by “Where Do We Go Now?,” in which Christians and Muslim villagers coexist in an uneasy peace. The latter film was in Un Certain Regard in 2011. Labaki has gained prominence with works that highlight aspects of everyday life in Lebanon. She is also the first female Arab director to have been nominated for an international Oscar for “Capernaum”(2018) which shed light on Beirut’s desperation.

Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, whose mythological adventure film ‘Brahmastra’ proved to be a saving grace for the already suffering Bollywood, has been roped in to appear in a special dance number for the upcoming film ‘Rocket Gang’, the directorial debut of choreographer turned director Bosco Leslie Martis.

The teaser of the song will be released on Monday. Ranbir and Bosco have worked together on several projects including Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Tamasha’ and ‘Rockstar’. Hence, the actor decided to come onboard for the song as a mark of appreciation for his friend.

One week after his fall on stage, Post Malone is still struggling with his health. On Saturday, Sept. 24, the rapper gave his fans an update on Twitter and revealed that he was canceling his planned show in Boston due to pain.

In his statement, Malone apologized to fans for having to cancel but said that he was in too much pain to perform. "Boston, I love ya'll so f*cking much," he tweeted. "On tour I usually wake up at 4 o'clock Pm, and today I woke to a cracking sounds [sic] on the right side of my body. I felt so good last night, but today it felt so different than it has before. I'm having a very difficult time breathing, and there's like a stabbing pain whenever I breathe or move."

Malone continued, "We're in the hospital now, but with this pain, I can't do the show tonight. I'm so f*cking sorry.

On Sept. 24, the "Rockstar" rapper shared a grim health update with his fans on his Instagram Story, adding that he has been forced to postpone his second show at Boston's Td Garden that night. Post Malone took a nasty fall at his St. Louis show on Saturday. During his smash hit “Circles,” the rapper and singer fell through an opening in the Enterprise Center stage, and was visibly in a lot of pain.

The opening in question was a trap door meant for lowering his guitar and moving other equipment.

After the wipeout, Malone was helped up by medics and security personnel, and given treatment backstage. He returned just 15 minutes later to finish the show, and stayed afterwards to sign autographs, despite his injuries.

When he made it back to the stage, Malone addressed the concerned crowd. “I want to thank you for your patience,” he said. “And I’m sorry there was a big-a– hole in the stage.”

Exclusive: Josh Lucas is set to star opposite Kristen Wiig in Apple TV+ comedy series Mrs. American Pie, executive produced by Laura Dern. Based on Juliet McDaniel’s book, Mrs. American Pie hails from creator Abe Sylvia (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) and director Tate Taylor (Breaking News in Yuba County). Dern also is eyeing a “key role” in the series.

Written by Sylvia and directed by Taylor, Mrs. American Pie is set during the powderkeg era of the early 1970s and follows Maxine Simmons (Wiig) and her attempt to secure her seat at America’s most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have nots, the series asks the same questions that baffle us today: Who gets a seat at the table, how do you get a seat at the table, and what will you sacrifice to get there?...

Mattel Films and Universal Pictures are developing a live-action "Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots" movie, based on the Mattel tabletop game, starring Vin Diesel, to be produced by Samantha Vincent ("The Fast and the Furious"):

The original two-player action toy designed by Marvin Glass and Associates was first manufactured by the Marx toy company in 1964.

The game features two dueling robot boxers, 'Red Rocker' and 'Blue Bomber', mechanically manipulated by the players. Each player takes control of one of the two robots both of which are standing on a platform molded in bright yellow high-impact polystyrene plastic, representing a boxing ring.

Kristen Wiig will star in the comedy “Mrs. America” at Apple TV+. Laura Dern will executive produce the series, which was greenlit on Monday, and is eyeing an on-screen role.

The series is based on the novel by Juliet McDaniel. Along with Dern, Jayme Lemons is producing under the pair’s Jaywalker Pictures.

“Mrs. American Pie” will be written, executive produced and showrun by Abe Sylvia, and directed and executive produced by Academy Award-nominee Tate Taylor. Taylor and John Norris also serve as executive producers under their Wyolah Entertainment banner. Katie O’Connell Marsh executive produces for Boat Rocker.

The full ensemble cast of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s star-studded drama “The Lost Daughter” has come into focus, as the film has just successfully wrapped production in Greece.

Ed Harris and “The Haunting of Hill House” breakout star Oliver Jackson-Cohen are among the additions to the film, Variety has learned exclusively, adapted from the acclaimed novel by Elena Ferrante. They are joined by Dagmara Dominczyk (“Succession”), Jack Farthing (“Love Wedding Repeat”) and Alba Rohrwacher (“Daughter of Mine”).

Those stars round out the previously-announced Olivia Colman, Dakota Johnson, Peter Sarsgaard, Jessie Buckley and “Normal People” heartthrob Paul Mescal.

Gyllenhaal is adaptive screenwriter and director on the project, which successfully completed production amidst coronavirus shutdowns around the globe. She is producing with Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman-Keren, through their company Pie Films, and Charles Dorfman.

Endeavor Content and Dorfman, through his Samuel Marshall Productions, are the financiers, with production services from Faliro House Productions.

Italy’s Pepito Prods., at Berlin with competition drama “Bad Tales” by Damiano and Fabio D’Innocenzo, is emerging as a new home for the country’s auteurs.

The company, headed by former Rai head of drama Agostino Saccà in January, scored more than $6 million in Italian cinemas with veteran Gianni Amelio’s “Hammamet,” a biopic of disgraced late Italian prime minister Bettino Craxi that marks Amelio’s best box office result in a decade.

“Bad Tales,” which world premieres Feb. 25, is the D’Innocenzo brothers’ followup to their debut, “Boy’s Cry.” That bowed in Berlin’s Panorama in 2018.

Chu to chronicle the journey of Arnel Pineda, a Filipino singer rescued from obscurity by a YouTube video that led him to become the lead singer of the iconic ’80s arena rock band Journey. Discovered on YouTube by Journey co-founder Neal Schon, who’d finally found the rare singer able to reliably replicate the soaring vocals of exited original lead singer Steve Perry, Pineda revived Journey and put the band back in stadiums once again. Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen will produce, and the search for a writer is underway.
