In terms of physical time on screen, Matthew Macfadyen’s back-to-back Emmy-winning performances in the “All the Bells Say” and “Tailgate Party” episodes of “Succession” are separated by a margin of six minutes and 44 seconds. His lauded turns are respectively shorter and longer than the average one vying for the 2024 Best Drama Supporting Actor prize, with his first aligning more closely with the new lineup’s actual screen time mean.

The seven current drama supporting actor contenders submitted performances that last for an average of 10 minutes and 13 seconds, or 20.01% of their single episodes. This data was calculated using a simple definition of stand-alone screen time, which is any time a given performer can be seen on screen or heard off screen. Contiguous moments of silent and non-visible scene time were not counted.

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Jack Lowden is entering the “Slow Horses” episode “Hard Lessons” as his 2024 Emmy Award submission for Best Drama Supporting Actor. “Hard Lessons” aired on November 29, 2023, and is the second episode of the Apple TV+ drama’s third season.

In “Hard Lessons”: River (Lowden) races to the Barbican Bridge and meets James “Spider” Webb (Freddie Fox), acting on behalf of the kidnappers who have threatened his family. Webb instructs River to steal the Prime Minister’s vetting file from MI5 headquarters before midday or Standish (Saskia Reeves) will be killed. Slow Horses is finally back with a whole new season filled with espionage, institutional failure, corruption, dark jokes, and deadly farts. The Apple TV+ series recently came out with its much anticipated third season and once again it revolves around the MI5 failures who are occupying Slough House. In the new season, we see a member of the Slow Horses getting kidnapped and how the rest of the team fights with everything they have to get them back.

As always Slow Horses isn’t your typical spy thriller because its characters and stories are as far from James Bond as they could be, and in my opinion, that’s what made Slow Horses one of the best espionage thriller ever made.

Chris Shiflett, guitarist for Foo Fighters, will drop his next solo effort, Lost at Sea, on Oct. 20 via Blue Élan Records. Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett has released a new single, “Born & Raised.” The rollicking track was recorded with producer Vance Powell and features Raconteurs bassist Jack Lawrence and Eagles of Death Metal drummer Julian Doro, along with keyboardist Mike Webb and steel guitarist Luke Schneider.

The reflective song sees Shiflett referencing his West Coast home with a country soul as he sings, “You might change but I’m-a stay the same/ Where I was born and raised.”
