The first post shared on the platforms was a video of cast members Tamara Tunie, Clifton Davis, Daphnee Duplaix and Karla Mosley appearing on set and dressed as their characters as they tell potential viewers when to expect the show to premiere.

Another musical guest is headed to The Bold and the Beautiful. On the heels of Michael Damian’s visit and “Rock On” performance as The Young and the Restless’ Danny Romalotti, the show welcomes another singing star. Jökull Júliusson, who headlines the Icelandic band Kaleo, appears on the soap next month. He’ll perform the hit song “Way Down We Go” on Friday, September 27. Júliusso has already filmed his episode.

Daytime vet Lindsay Hartley was back as Sam McCall last week, subbing for Kelly Monaco. “Grateful to be stepping in again,” shared the actress on Instagram. Hartley made her initial appearance as Sam in 2020. Word is she’s back for a quick stint.

After a long absence, Parry Shen is back as Brad Cooper. The hospital’s ousted lab manager made a pitch for a new job as a lab technician. He last aired in March 2023.

That was Debbie Matenopoulos, former co-host of The View and Home & Family, playing a Home & Heart producer. She interacted with the Deception team.

The 15th and final season of CBS’ “The Talk” will kick off on Monday, September 9, Soap Opera Network has learned. The news marks the first time since at least June that the veteran talk show will feature a slate of all-new episodes.

Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood are all expected back as co-hosts, with Rob Crabbe continuing to serve as executive producer/showrunner.

In the case of Underwood, the final season fulfills a two-year deal she signed back in 2022 which would see her continuing to co-host the daytime talk show through Season 15 and provided her with a first-look development deal with CBS Studios.

The final season of “The Talk” will conclude in December.

Although it has been reported that veteran writer Robert Guza Jr. (“General Hospital”) and producer Julie Hanan Carruthers (“All My Children,” “Port Charles”) have joined “The Gates” as executive producers, creator and showrunner Michele Val Jean, who is also an executive producer on the series, has only officially confirmed one new hire since the news of the show’s development was first announced earlier this year.

On X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday morning, Val Jean shared that writer Skyy Sandifer had joined the new daytime drama series, which is set to debut on CBS in January 2025.

After first striking a partnership deal with CBS Media Ventures in March 2021 to help the preeminent company in television syndication connect advertisers with African American consumers, NuTime Media is furthering its relationship with CBS to help the network sell advertising for new daytime drama series “The Gates.”

As part of its agreement, Black-owned NuTime Media will act as a sales rep to sell national advertising opportunities for “The Gates.”

“We are thrilled to add ‘The Gates’ to our portfolio of products,” said Morris McWilliams, NuTime Media’s president and CEO, in a statement. “A daytime drama of this kind has not been on broadcast television in over 35 years, and we are certain it will fill that void and have positive appeal with African American audiences.”

Actor Justin Hartley has become a huge primetime star with his iconic role in This Is Us as Kevin Pearson, not to mention his huge breakout hit this year, playing Colter Shaw on Tracker. Still, he recently had an interview where he talked about his “ridiculous” start on soap operas.

Justin Hartley’s – Early Daytime Drama Days

Before diving into the world of primetime, Hartley started in the land of daytime drama. From 2002-2006, he was in the soap opera (now canceled) called Passions where he played Nicholas Foxworth “Fox” Crane.

Not overly shocking, but the show took advantage of Justin’s chiseled features and ripped physique, showcasing him in plentiful scenes where Hartley walked around without a shirt on.

Justin reflected on his time with the soap, noting that the show had him shirtless around a hospital for three weeks. He adds that it was “ridiculous”, but he loved it.

Soaps fans will have even more tasty drama to sink their teeth into: CBS has officially ordered a brand-new daytime series titled The Gates, which is set to premiere January 2025.

The Gates will follow the lives of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community. Michele Val Jean (The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, Santa Barbara) will serve as writer and showrunner. Veteran soap scribe Michele Val Jean will be spearheading the potential series where she is set up as writer, showrunner and executive producer alongside executive producers Sheila Ducksworth, Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson and Kimberly Doebereiner.

CBS is developing a soap opera about a wealthy family that could become the first daytime TV drama with a predominately Black cast in decades.

The project is titled The Gates, and it follows the lives of a wealthy Black family living in a posh, gated community.

The show will be produced by a CBS Studios/NAACP production venture in partnership with P&g Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. The Gates will be written by Emmy-winning daytime veteran Michele Val Jean (The Bold & the Beautiful), who will also serve as showrunner. Val Jean has also written more than 2,000 episodes of daytime TV.

The last Black daytime soap was NBC’s short-lived Generations, which launched in 1989 as a half-hour drama and was reportedly the first U.S. soap to center around a Black family from its inception. Also, Fox’s 2015 hit drama Empire was regarded by some as a soap opera,...

Airing just four episodes since premiering after the Super Bowl last month, CBS has given an early second season renewal to “Tracker,” which has emerged to become this season’s most-watched new series and the most-watched new series overall since the series debut of “Young Sheldon.”

When factoring in Nielsen’s Most Current Data (including Live+7), on average, 16 million viewers are tuning in for each episode, making “Tracker” the most-watched new drama since the 2014-2015 season debut of Fox’s “Empire” (17.33 million) and the most-watched new show since “Young Sheldon” (16.49 million) during the 2017-2018 broadcast television season. On streaming, the series was the no. 1 show on Paramount+ in February.

“‘Tracker’ kicked off our premiere week with a ratings bang and has kept the momentum going,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “We knew we had something special when we saw the very first cut of the series and the overwhelming audience response confirms it.
