New Sequels, Prequels, and Spin-Offs

Four grotesque masters of Kung Fu are destined to fight each other. Two only wish good for their people. The other two want to become the only two living masters. Thus, they hire and train an assassin to murder the others.

This definitely falls into my weir movies category. The premise is typical WUSHU - people battling to see who is best bump off the competition to ensure a win. When Iron Villain (Wong Chung) isn&#39;t training, he&#39;s roaming the countryside assassinating his sifus&#39; competition. Scholar (Wen Chiang-Long) is trained by Beggar (Chan Wai-Lau - who is always great as a Sifu) for the ultimate battle. The truly weird is the final battle between Iron Villain and Scholar. How Iron Villain maintained a straight face through the fight is beyond me. Scholar&#39;s Frog technique was more ridiculous than Kurata&#39;s Crab technique in Heroes of the East.<br/><br/>I gave this movie a 6 because Wong Chung was in it. Otherwise it would hav e been more like a 4.

I saw this as KUNG FU TROUBLE MAKER and whichever title you see it under doesn&#39;t make much difference as it has no relation to the actual film. It&#39;s your typical cheap kung fu movie from Taiwan with disappointing fight choreography of the same variety that you&#39;ve seen play out a hundred times before. You know the sort, two guys square up and hit each other slowly and forcefully while random extras jump around in the background to add movement.<br/><br/>The story is about quadruple kung fu masters, two good, two evil. The evil ones decide to destroy the good ones and that&#39;s all there is to it. There are no recognisable faces here, no unusual or unique elements, or any particularly good film-making, it&#39;s all just very average and nondescript. The most noticeable thing about the production is the yellow lame suits worn by the characters, making this a bright and gaudy tale.

Possibly the worst of the 1970s-80s chopsocky flicks. Terribly pointless plot. The hero takes ridiculous beatings for little reason before quickly learning enough to try avenging the murders of his father and and a whole bunch of others, including the region&#39;s top fighters. The climactic battle plays out more like a two-clown tumbling act than a duel between top fighters. What they do makes the drunken master lineage look deadly serious, and they weren&#39;t even making a comedy. Hugely disappointing.
