Directed by Aleksandr Razumnyj as the hostilities of WW2 darkened the skies the rousing patriotic film was based on a story by the author Arkady Gaidar who also wrote the screenplay. Timur and His Squad is a wonderfully inspirational tale, a story founded in the authors own youthful experiences. A group of village boys & girls is led by a bright young character named Timur. After meetings at their local hideout the considerate youths branch out to secretly perform kind & honourable acts. With war breaking out the industrious gang help out the families of Red Army officers and soldiers, supporting their community elders and small children. Setting the positive example they also fight off a gang of local hooligans. With a terrific cast of mostly young teen and adult actors it is their vitality, their honesty which enliven this marvellous upstanding tale. Of notable interest is the fact that
the novel and popular film gave rise to the Timurite movement. Emulating the activities of Timur and his squad, righteous youth across the country organized volunteering movements which supported with charitable deeds the vital needs of their communities.
Join the squad and tag along, wear your red star badge with pride, with conscientious Timur in charge you certainly will never be led astray...Highly Recommended, excellent Soviet Classic Cinema !!
