In 1980 this would have probably been known as 'a woman's programme'. However over the weeks its drew in an audience of both sexes as the show bravely tackled a very difficult subject matter, which was the trials and tribulations of a couple, coming to terms with the fact that the wife had a terminal disease. ATV was not known for making this type of programme,(concentrating on cheerful escapist stuff) but they made a real effort and put their stamp on it, which would be to explore sometimes, the illusive, and surreal aspect of the relationship. Having excellent writing and great pros in the lead ( Nyree Dawn Porter and Ian Hendry) made this gripping television in 1980, but perhaps a subject too painful to warrant any repeats? especially as ATV lost their licence to broadcast in the following year.
