You shouldn't interfere in a 19th century duel, that's what Lilith Silver finds out, she's killed - but her reward is eternal life as a Vampire. Fast forward a few years (quite a few) and Lilith as an assassin; a skin-tight leather jumpsuit wearing assassin - with crimson red lips, a heaving bosom, and taste for human blood. She works for a man she calls Platinum, who she also has a thing going on with too. She's been hunted down by the people she's been hunting down, the Illuminati. Things take a dramatic turn for the worst and Lilith comes full-circle with her past as she get stuck in the middle of another duel. Will she survive this time though?
OK, yes this is a cheesy tongue-in-cheek gorefest but if you know anything about director Jake West you should have expected that, granted though if you watched this in the 90's like me you may not have know at the time. The film is the best kind of low budget cheese, the plot has more holes than Emmental, the acting stinks like Limburger, the set and visuals are more plasticky than Kraft slices. The plot is questionable at times, its delivery occasionally confusing and the staging... well, it looks very staged too. There is a sprinkling of vampire clichés, and a lot (and lots) of 90's 'lad culture' visuals - expect flashes of soft-core porn, lesbian sex, nightclubs, Reservoir Dogs suits and random violence. Despite having a female lead this is not a very feministic film - but it was ok to objectify in the 90's (apparently anyway. Think Ladsmag/ FHM/ Nuts culture - if you weren't in the UK in the 90's sorry about that reference!). There is hardly any character development, no life affirming or changing messages or morals, and yes the lead (Eileen Daly) looks like she's been pulled straight off the cover of a Kerrang magazine (90's heavy metal and goth music magazine). Despite all this, I cannot bring myself to hate the film - it was fun (in two or three places)! It was made in a different era for a different audience then the kind you'll find post 2000). This is the product somebody with drive and ambition to make a film, despite next to no budget (less than £20k - which wouldn't get you a new car nowadays!!). Look at the kind of CGI heavy rubbish you'll find on late night terrestrial themed channels nowadays (I'm looking at you SyFy), this is no worse than any if that. No this isn't a great film, no it doesn't have much of a heart because that was sacrificed for visuals, but Jake West stood up and made a film - it was for him, it wasn't awful, it was a start, it was springboard into the industry and therefore it still deserves a handful of stars in my rating system. This won't be for everyone, but there are some people who will enjoy this.

Firstly, I'm assuming that you like vampire movies... If you don't then goodness knows what you are doing looking at the user comments for RAZOR BLADE SMILE anyway. If you are not a shadow obsessed goth music lover then turn back now. This is not your film.
Razor Blade Smile both fails and succeeds in equal amounts. Its strongest point - as with almost all British movies - is its script. Writer/Director Jake West has penned an intelligent piece of cult cinema here and although some of the lines fall flat, much of the script really does illuminate a new angle on the vampire world. There are moments of both tongue in cheek humour and intellectual social commentary. This factor, coupled probably the twistiest twist of a twisted finale ever put on the screen should be enough to put a canine revealing smile on a lot of you fellow vampiric folks out there.
Where the film fails is forgivably in its cast and its special effects. Jake West has done his best to please the Chow Yun Fat gunplay fans and the would-be highlanders in the audience but quite frankly on this sort of action cannot work on such a tight budget. The snappy editing only part way makes up for this though. You can't help but think that with a tad more dollar he could have gotten some classier cast who could have delivered the sharp script a little better.
Altogether, RAZOR BLADE SMILE is as sharp as its title. Moments of genius mix with moments of cringe-worthy badness, but if - like me - you have a tendency to dress on the darker end of the spectrum, then this might be just your cup of,ermmm, red wine ;)

This is a very cheap movie, the actors are never going to make movie stars, but this is normal for this genre. Fortunately it has a good story,
and Elieen Daly looks very sexy, the montage is good and it has some nice shots.
It is different to see England make this kind of movie, which are normally made in the USA, so it looks different to usual modern vampire movies.
I have not seen any other film from Jake West but I will be interested to see what happen when he has more money.
I gave this 6/10 and think it is a good movie for if you like sexy vampires and can see passed the limits of the money.

Well, Razor Blade Smile obviously is a low budget horror/action flick. But seeing Eileen Daly as her alter ego Lilith Silver is something to tell your friends about. It won't be long before they knock on your door to see this cool white face with red lips and impressive fangs. Razor Blade Smile is a small production so don't expect mega-special effects by the ILM boys but some nice camera-angles, a few colouring filters in the right place and wildly edited actionscenes. The acting, though not very impressive sufficiently reflects the fun in making this movie. Don't take it too seriously, the actors don't so just enjoy 93 minutes of popcornfun. Razor Blade Smile is destined to be a cult-classic, amongst Vampiremovie-lovers it will raise a brow but that will be amply compensated by buckets full of blood. Cheers.... Constant Hoogenbosch, from the Netherlands (saw it on video)
Following a 19th century gun dual that goes awry, a charming young woman becomes a vampire. Not only does she become one of the undead, she uses her goth, temptress persona to sustain her talents as a cold blooded assassin. This is a low grade B feature that should have went straight to video. The violence is vicious and gory, but actually quite mild. The story line is so weak and dialogue so haphazard it is hard to work up much interest. Eileen Daly is the lead character Lilith Silver. Also in the cast are Mark Caven, Kevin Howarth, and Isabel Brook.

This film is some of the worst handywork I´ve seen in years. It seems like it´s made with a video/handy cam. The light setting does´nt exist. The actors must have been picked up from the street. The story, there is no story. THIS IS RUBBISH, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS FILM.

Lets be simple and straight forward about this, I rented this movie because I like vampires and it looked interesting. Oh how movie cases lie, this movie was so painfully boring that my boyfriend and I decided to watch it in fastforward. There was a point that we saw something shocking had happedned and we debated stopping the fast forward and rewinding to figure out what was going on. But we relized that would only prolong the pain of this movie. If I could build a time machine and only use it once I would use it to go back and stop myself from renting this. Some horror movies are so bad that they're funny, some are so bad they become cult favorites, and then there are movies like this one that make you want to kill yourself for living in a world where a film like this gets made.

I mainly watched this because I had read an article about the female protagonist in an admittedly strange mag (Bizarre). My expectations were as low as they possibly could be so maybe that's why I enjoyed so much what I saw... The story's an entertaining and fresh go at an ever so well known theme (vampires) but what really makes this movie worth watching is a) the fact (?) that the entire cast really seems to have had great fun while doing this and b) that the visuals are just what they ought to be given that the makers didn't have a Hollywood budget. Amateurish at times, it is convincing enough for what it is - a cheap but fun vampire movie with lots of teeth, bites and blood. All I can say is that I great fun for an hour and a half. I wish I could say similar things about some lame but big budget movies like The Matrix or the like. Watch it and make up your own opinion. My bet is you won't regret it.
Sure it is a new take on vampires. Who cares. I would rather the old take if it is entertaining. This was not entertaining. It was a dull story, poorly acted, with annoying cinematography. Save your money, don't even watch it on video.

Razor Blade Smile attempts to reach the same dizzying heights as Wishmaster 2...and fails! A poor excuse for a vampire movie and basically consists of a leather-clad female vampire running around trying to knock people off. Please, I'm begging you, do not see this movie! Go out and pick rubbish up off the beach or join Greenpeace..but just don't see this! *

Probably my favorite vampire film after Blade & FDTD (so you can see where I'm coming from). An irreverant, entertaining and bloody film, full of nifty gunfights, amusing dialogue and FUN.
If you're stuck up about low budget films, don't waste your time - you won't get anything out of it. If you like black humor, mayhem by bullet, sword, fang, and the stake and outfits purchased from the local fetish boutique - this is right up your alley.
And unlike some of the other reviewers, I LIKE the acting :)

This is by no means a great film, but at last a lowbudget film that delivers a thrill. Clever editing and a pvc catsuit work their magic. Eileen Daly looks great. Lovely use of time lapse and even brief animation add to a movie with lots of heart, even if it's a bumpy ride.

Under no circumstances should you be mislead into seeing this film as a ligitimate horror/vampire or even "British" movie. It is unbelievably badly made, very poorly acted and scripted - the story isn't. I cannot believe that the Odeon cinema in Camden are screening this movie it is a complete embarrassment to British film-making - it makes the "Carry-ons" look big budget and intellectual.
Yes, this film is silly. Yes the script is badly written, the plot far from convincing, the acting mediocre...etc. But as a silly film, this film is highly entertaining. It is one of the best bad films I've ever seen (I would place it on a level with Commando), and you can even take it to a higher level by interpreting parts of it as a parody on the goth-culture and on traditional serious modern-vampire films. I don't think this film is meant to be taken seriously, just consider all the cheesy one-liners and how the characters never step outside the sterotype. I pressured a group of very sceptic people to watch this movie with me and within a few minutes, these people, who had just been threatening never to let me decide on a film again, were laughing out loud. I would watch this film again, no doubt about that :-)
So, relax people, it's perfectly o.k. to enjoy silly things, it won't make you any less an intellectual!

The movie Razor Blade Smile has an interesting title as well as leading role. Now most may not like this movie for the plot and acting was a little cheap, but that is the appeal of a movie like Razor Blade Smile. In a way it was suppose to be bad movie.
However, if you watch this movie all the way through the end you'll see it is as I said a cheap vampire flick with a little humor. (Also how they manipulated colours in a few scenes is very interesting.)
So in conclusion this movie is a type you rent and laugh at with your friends and enjoy it for what it is. For no movie is throughly bad.
As Lilith Silver says: "Humans just don't smile enough..."

Bad, bad, bad movie. shame on you. If there are real vampires, run, they want payback. If you are thinking about watching this dreck, please reconsider, if only for the children. Everytime this movie is watched terrible things eat the wings off angels.
I may seem to be rambling, it is the result of the movie.
I watched it, ran to the bathroom, got sick from the bad acting, then came here to post my views. So if one person doesn't decide to watch this crap then my pain was not in vain. Please pardon the pun. I would say more but this movie has driven me mad. I'm going to jump.

What happened to this film? Lots of hype about a new British vampire film had lots of people excited. Then came the release date. No-one could find it. We wondered why. Then we saw it. We realised why - it's awful.
The acting smells, the script smells, the lighting is awful. The story is interesting at times, but hardly original. The sadly departed David Warbeck makes his final appearance, and Eileen Daly takes her clothes off. Those final two points are the only good points about the film.
If you're going to hype a film, make sure that you actually have a film people might want to see. I've read a lot of comments rubbishing lots of things about this film, but then going on to completely ignore those things in order to try and tell us that this is a good film.
I wanted to like it, I tried to like it, but folks, I couldn't like it. It's impossible to like a film like this. Even the gore was minimal, which could have been in it's favour.
Oh, and please let's have no more Mario Bava or Lucio Fulci comparisons. That's a really nasty thing to say about two of the Italian horror industry's better directors. They can't even answer back.

After the success of Interview with the Vampire in 1994, there were a number of attempts to modernise the common vampire legend; and a number of failures, which included the likes of The Wisdom of Crocodiles and The Addiction. Razor Blade Smile is another attempt to do the same; and while there are certainly a lot of things wrong with it, I actually found myself liking the film more and more as it went along and director Jake West has to be credited with a really good attempt at doing what the earlier films attempted. Initially I thought this film would be a rip off of Blade; but actually it has its own style. The film begins in the 19th century and we see a young woman turned into a vampire. Fast forward to present day and the woman is Lilith Silver, and she's putting her vampire abilities to good use with a job as a hired killer. She gets given jobs to pick off various businessmen who all form a group known as 'The Illuminati" and she gets some police attention too, before finding that the conspiracy goes much deeper.
The film was independently made and does not benefit from good cinematography. Actually the film is rather horrific on the eyes; and that's a shame really. The action scenes are fast and entertaining and more than do their job, but the main draw of this film is the way that the screenplay handles the vampire legend. The film directly addresses most of the common elements of the vampire legend; some are in keeping with the classics while others are glossed over or changed and the film handles its own mythology very well. The way that vampire story is mixed with modern day is good and the lead character's dress sense and associated with the 'vampire' subculture is amusing. Eileen Daly takes the lead role and never really convinces with it; she looks the part but the delivery of her lines is often very awkward, although obviously the screenplay has to shoulder much of the blame for that. The film also boils down to a very good twist at the end, which makes more sense the more you think about it. Overall, this is a long way from perfect; but it's a fun film to watch and the flaws are easy to forgive.

I was all ready to hate this but it turned out to be surprisingly tolerable - though the MTV-style of film-making (shot on DV, to boot) is quite an eye-sore! I liked the script's self-mocking style, as well as its central idea of having the female vampire lead doubling as a contract killer. As to the cast, Eileen Daly (best known as the 'star' of those horrid "Redemption" intros) has an undeniable screen presence - and is quite sensual, despite her age; however, Christopher Adamson's hammy chief villain is obnoxious. David Warbeck has a brief role as a doctor (dubbed "The Horror-Movie Man"!) who conducts the autopsy on one of the vampire's victims; the film seems to have taken quite a long time to shoot as Warbeck died in 1997! There's plenty of nudity and violence on hand, but not much sense alas (especially since its subplot involving a secret society of vampires infiltrating the power structures is barely developed); the film is also overlong for its purpose, and eventually slips into tedium during the last half-hour.

Given its obvious low budget, this really isn't bad at all. Some of the acting is a little off key, I saw far too many close-ups of very average plastic fangs and I'd have cut this down to at most 90 minutes. Having said all that though, Eileen Daly is most effective as the leading lady and looks great throughout. The fetish inspired costumes are a treat and probably took up most of that meagre budget. The humour doesn't always work and the simple storyline doesn't help keep one's attention, but this is filmed with considerable style and the very big plus is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's not a great film or even a particularly good horror flick but it made me smile now and again and had the lovely Eileen, mostly in but now and again partly out of her stunning costumes. It also delights in its gory sessions and almost convinces in its notion of dying of pleasure.

Well this movie was so bad I have a hard time finding words. Terrible overacting paired with regular bad acting makes this movie a pain to watch. But to Jake West's defence I can say that he had some good ideas and some visually appealing scenes and the music was good, but he had better do a better job next time.
Razor Blade Smile is a really good film. True the acting totally blows but the story is brilliant. It totally destroys the misconceptions about the Vampire Myth. The whole twist at the end of the film is really well done. I didn't see it coming. It's only when you watch it again you notice subtle hints. Don't listen to the others. Don't listen to me. Decide for yourself! Peace Out Scotty
Well I see where some of the other imdb critics have trashed this film.Sorry folks, it isn't that bad.
The plot concerns a vampire who "moonlights" as a hit woman. She has been baffling New Scotland Yard as the "Angel Of Death".This time out she has been hired to kill certain people and take their rings that have a mystic symbol of a "masonic" cult.
But she unknowingly leaves a witness to one of her hits. The police are put on her trail. Only one cop believes that she really is a vampire. He is also a member of the cult and tries the time tested ways of vampire eradication. This movie shoots holes "literally" into many of the vampire myths. Crosses don't work, neither does garlic or a stake in the heart. Sunlight causes eye distress.
Lilth has to use her wits, knives, swords and automatics to save her human lover and take on the cult. Yes, there is a very surprising ending to this little goodie.
There are pitfalls to this flick. Everybody is a poor shot. More bullets miss their marks than at a beginners gun safety target class. Some of the camera angles try to be too arty for their sake of being clever. The repeating of a scene from different angles is nothing new and distracting.Lilth's fangs suck.
What does work is the basic premise of a vampire killer for hire and a great script. The acting is very good and the movie doesn't drag along.Lillth does look great in leather. Eileen Daly isn't the beauty of the year but she has an animal grace that makes you watch her closely.
Worth a rental.

"You know f*** all about vampires" The opening dialog totally describes this movie. The star is trying to tell the audience about vampires, but she should have told this to the writers, director and producer of this film (and everyone else who had anything to do with this movie). Absolutely the worst film I have ever even heard of. It appears to have been shot with a home video camera. The acting is substandard and the plot is totally ridiculous. The only positive feature is the concept of the movie. Avoid at all costs. Do not watch just to see if it is worth it. It is not. this movie is a disgrace to all movies ever made in england, or the known world, for that matter.
