Zooey Deschanel has been in the public eye for nearly three decades, and she's accomplished quite a bit in her lifetime. She made her film debut in the 1999 film "Mumford," but arguably became well-known after starring in the beloved 2003 Christmas flick "Elf." Following her success from "Elf," Deschanel appeared in a number of popular movies throughout the remainder of the 2000s, including "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," "Yes Man," and the indie rom-com "500 Days of Summer" alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Film is not the only place Deschanel is popular, however. She is also well-known for her role as Jessica Day in the sitcom "New Girl" and for being one half of the music duo She & Him. Currently, she hosts a cooking show on Max called "What Am I Eating?" and stars as Kelly in the third season of AppleTV+'s "Physical."

Jan Komasa’s Oscar-nominated drama “Corpus Christi” is, like many films before it, built on lies. It’s the story of an ex-con, played by Bartosz Bielenia, who dreams of becoming a priest but cannot because of his criminal past. So instead, he impersonates a man of the cloth and becomes a pillar of a small-town community.
His unorthodox approach to holiness — half plagiarized from the priest at his correctional facility, half common-sense morality — has a positive impact on his flock, so one could find themselves asking, “What’s the harm?”
As an audience, we have perhaps become a little complacent about duplicity in fiction, where it seems like half of all relationships are built on whimsical lies. They usually collapse after the inevitable revelations, only to pick themselves up and go on again like nothing ever happened. And we are expected just to be Ok with that. In real life,...

Bob Dylan has written more songs than even he could ever record. After discovering nearly two dozen never-recorded lyrics written by Dylan during his exceptionally prolific "Basement Tapes" period in the late '60s, award-winning producer T-Bone Burnett has put together an all-star band to marry the lyrics to new music. The band includes Mumford and Sons' Marcus Mumford, My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, Elvis Costello, Dawes, Carolina Chocolate Drops’ Rhiannon Giddens, and more. The result is the upcoming tribute album "Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes," and you can hear a taste of it below, with the animated lyric video for the Costello-led "Married to My Hack." Watch the video here: And take a listen to "Nothing to It," with James on lead vocals, here. The Coen Brothers movie is immersed in the folk scene of the early 60s in Greenwich Village, where boho survivors still recall the glory days – and lament a few of the film's flaws
Fifty years ago, the tenements, bars and coffee houses of Greenwich Village were the centre of a hip, bohemian society of beatniks and folkniks. That society has long dispersed, most of its landmarks erased by the onslaught of chain stores and fast food outlets. But enough of the Village remains intact that, by squinting in the Arctic freeze last week, it was almost possible to picture a 21-year-old Bob Dylan with his girlfriend, Suze Rotolo, braced against the cold in February 1963 for the covershot of the great Freewheelin' Bob Dylan acoustic LP.
It's not unusual to see couples re-enacting that pose on the corner of West 4th and Jones Street, says Mark Sebastian, a neighbourhood activist, musician...

The 2014 People’s Choice Awards nominations were announced Nov. 5, and with fan-favorites like Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Lucy Hale & Lea Michele all racking up nominations, our heads are spinning!
The People’s Choice Awards has always been one of the stand-out fun awards show offerings, but this year’s ceremony is looking to be a bloodbath. Jared Padalecki vs. Jensen Ackles vs. Stephen Amell vs. Ian Somerhalder vs. Andrew Lincoln? Pretty Little Liars vs. The Walking Dead? (How does one even vote on that?) At least no matter who wins, it’s somebody we like, right? (Wrong. So wrong. This is huge!)
Vampires, Liars, Doctors, and Walkers: The TV Noms
With plenty of viable candidates, the TV nominations are as brutally difficult as ever this year. Some of our favorite categories include “Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show,” which has Beauty and the Beast, Once Upon A Time, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries,...

The year 1991 is the focus for our latest underappreciated films list, which includes dramas, thrillers, and a smattering of horror...
Ah, 1991. The year Robert Patrick ran after cars in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and Kevin Costner grew a spectacular mullet for Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves. But outside the top ten blockbuster list, there lies an entire world of other, less celebrated films to discover.
Some of the movies on this list have been included because they were overlooked in theatres, while others have been added because they were unfairly dismissed by critics. One or two others were modest successes, but (whisper it) we decided to include them anyway because we really, really like them.
So here, for your delectation, is our pick of 25 underappreciated films from 1991.
25. Deceived
You think Goldie Hawn, you tend to think comedy, or her Oscar-nominated turn in Private Benjamin.

Sam Jones, who directed the Wilco documentary "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart," is the man responsible for Mumford & Sons' "Hopeless Wanderer," a.k.a. the video that everyone loves this week.
The clip stars Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman, Ed Helms and Will Forte as Mumford & Sons, though as Jones told The Los Angeles Times, the band had no input about their comedic doppelgangers. What Mumford & Sons did try to dictate, however, was the actual song.
According to Jones, the band wanted "Babel," the title track to their smash hit 2012 album, to be used for the video. Jones wasn't having it: "I said it just wouldn't work," the director said to The Times.
"Hopeless Wanderer" was kept and the rest is internet history. For more from Jones, head to the Times. Watch the "Hopeless Wanderer" video for the umpteenth time in the window above.

If I were back in Catholic grade school, I suspect Sister Mary Rita would’ve kept me after class and sentenced me to a half hour at the chalkboard this afternoon, writing: “It does not matter who wins Season 4 of The Voice. It does not matter who wins Season 4 of The Voice. It does not matter who wins Season 4 of The Voice.”
And Sister Rita, smart cookie that she was, would’ve had a point. After Monday night’s Live Finals, the Top 3 acts — Michelle Chamuel, Danielle Bradbery and The Swon Brothers — all managed to land two songs apiece in the iTunes Top 10 Singles chart.

The sun has set (or risen?) on Summit Entertainment’s venerable vampire series — but even though it, like Robsten, is officially kaput, Twilight still holds a hypnotic power over people of a certain age. (That age is “young.”)

Nashville, Tenn. -- Coachella and Lollapalooza are sold out. Bonnaroo's nearly there, too. But eager fans need only be patient: Wait a few years and chances are you'll have a star-studded music festival of your own within driving distance.
New music festivals are popping up more quickly than you can count in the U.S. As the summer festival season gets under way this week with the sprawling Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival down in the desert in Indio, Calif., some of the most successful promoters in the scene are looking ahead to next year and beyond when they'll launch new ventures in untapped markets.
"I do think that there's really plenty of opportunities for people to create some great festival experiences," said Ashley Capps, a co-founder of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn. "In fact, I think in many ways the audience in America is just...

Are you ready for more of The Walking Dead?
News
James Wolk has joined the cast of The Crazy Ones, the David E. Kelley-written comedy about father-daughter advertising agency starring Robin Williams. I'm sorry James Wolk fans. Maybe David E. Kelley is past his self-parody stage?
Deadline reports that Miranda Otto has joined the cast of Rake, the Fox drama pilot that also stars Greg Kinnear as a "frustratingly charming" criminal defense lawyer. You know what this means, we'll be watching looking for the chance to yell "She is no man!" at the TV.
Fox's comedy pilot about a group of New York detectives has just added Stephanie Beatriz, according to The Hollywood Reporter. You'll probably recognize Beatirz for her recent Modern Family role (where she played Gloria's sister). The pilot also stars Andy Samberg and comes from Parks & Recreation's producers. This just keeps sounding better.

Mesfin Fekadu's picks:
1. Nas, "Life is Good": "I am a graphic classic song composer," Nas raps on the intro to his latest album. And he's right. You may disagree, but Nas is the best rapper alive, and with "Life is Good," he's got the year's top album, regardless of genre. On "Life," he's spitting rhymes about his ex-wife, Kelis – like the soulful "Bye Baby" – his daughter on "Daughters" and his childhood on "A Queens Story." He's a top-notch lyricist with a knack for storytelling, and it all makes for impeccable music. He knows life is good, and so is this album.
2. Of Monsters and Men, "My Head Is an Animal": The Icelandic fivesome have melodies that are eerie, jamming, groovy and overall epic. The voices of the male and female lead singers blend so beautifully that it sounds like magic.
3. Elle Varner, "Perfectly Imperfect": Her raspy and powerful voice,...

They have entertained Barack Obama at the White House and their latest album Babel is the fastest-selling in the Us this year. How have four polite Englishmen made their hoedown folk such a hit?
Soundcheck for the band, today, takes place at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. It is late afternoon and while the arena's 17,000 outdoor seats are still empty the four members of Mumford & Sons – prospering British folk band, in the middle of a long tour of Australia, the Us and the UK, their newly released album Babel a smash on all fronts – wander to centre stage. First singer and guitarist Marcus Mumford, wearing a black suit, then bassist Ted Dwane, in leather bomber and T-shirt. Next bearded banjo player Winston Marshall, his blue flannel shirt hanging loose, and pianist Ben Lovett, wrapped in a woollen coat.

These days, it seems like everyone has their own take on who the sexiest women in the world are. So we got some people together, and asked them to list their top 10. In all, there were 47 different women picked from 4 main fields, musicians, actresses, presenters and models, and after a lot of deliberation and consideration, 10 women were picked, some were sure to be included right from the start, others were very surprising. However, we feel these results accurately convey what real men like, and who they consider to be the sexiest women in the world today
What makes a women, sexy? Is it simply sex appeal, good looks, personality, or a combination of all 3? We feel that it’s a combination of all 3, and this list is the argument that backs that up. So please sit back, relax, unbutton your jeans if you have to, do whatever you want, just enjoy.
