WONDERGUY is a genre "superhero" film, that of the ordinary shmuck rising to defend the world against the dark forces. It's not a slick Hollywood production reeking with special effects, in fact it has a "home-made" quality, which makes it "believable," thus allowing it to stand out among the crowd. Also, what surprised me, and pleasantly so, is its refreshingly different hero, Darnell Decker. Played by Murad Gumen, who has also written, directed, and produced WONDERGUY, Darnell is a character who is at once endearing, infuriating, and totally honest. Throughout the tale, Darnell has a tough time dealing with the sudden "Superhero" status thrust upon him against his will; he protests, despairs, stumbles, falls, crawls, rises up again, while you, the viewer, frame after frame can not help but root for his eventual success. Highly recommended as good, clean fun, for children between ages 8 and 80. Enjoy!
