Itami Juzo plays a college professor who is a true intellectual...but he is fascinated by a girl (Kaori Momoe) he has heard is a virgin. In the meantime, he is a family man, with no interest in his family whatsoever.
At one point he takes the girl to a love hotel and tries to rape her. The scene is terrifying.... Professor and girl chase each other around the room... and then sit, facing each other, panting...
"Yugure Made" means "until evening..." This film has some of the best acting I have seen. Momoe usually acts rather loose women, so her acting in this shows a range that one rarely sees.
Itami Juzo was, until his suicide, one of the best directors in japan. Watching him as a subtle actor is worth the price of admission.
