Mauro Bolognini and his collaborators managed the very difficult enterprise of making us regret the awful Carmine Gallone's "Casa Ricordi" (1956). Their TV remake of this old film about the notorious Italian family of music publishers is as inaccurate as the original, but much less funny. The cast is a parade of Italian cinema and TV stars and starlets, all of them miscast. Nothing in the script has any relation with the History of 19th Century Italian Opera and the biographies of its composers. Everything is narrated in the typical style of a soap-opera. Italian actors must be really in despair to accept working in such TV productions.
