One does not like the character of the story

A picture of considerable dramatic interest, yet offering disagreeable suggestions. For a girl to leave her husband because he is poor and contract an illegal marriage with a marquis, a former lover, who agrees to give her mother a home, is not the pleasantest sort of a picture, even though it may be true. And then later comes reconciliation with her husband. If the picture is intended as a story of what is done in some instances, it has merit. If it is intended as a drama merely, the suggestion offered is not the best. The plot might have been worked out in a way to save the stigma of selling herself which attaches to the girl. The acting and photography are not to be criticized, but one does not like the character of the story. - The Moving Picture World, October 22, 1910
