The 2022 Golden Trailer Awards are led by Coda with 14 nominations — the most of any film — followed by The Matrix Resurrections, which starred Keanu Reeves, with 10.

Coda and Apple TV+ made history when the film captured best picture at the Academy Awards, a first for a streaming service after years of Netflix and other competitors long campaigned for such an honor.

Other multiple nominees include Top Gun: Maverick with five nominations; Dune with four; and Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and The Batman among the movies with three mentions.

The Golden Trailer Awards, which honor creatives who produce trailers and marketing content for new movies, TV and streaming series, will be held live in Los Angeles on Oct. 6 and will be hosted by comedian Henry Cho.

After a pandemic induced 2020 hybrid edition, the 10th edition of the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival will take place as a wholly in-person event.

The festival will open with Benito Zambrano’s Mallorca-set literary adaptation “Lemon and Poppy Seed Cake” (Spain). Zambrano will be present with principal cast. It will close with the world premiere of William Nunez’s 1920s-set “The Laureate” (U.K.), based on the acclaimed war poet Robert Graves’ unconventional home life. Nunez and his principal cast, Tom Hughes, Dianna Agron and Laura Haddock, as well as the Graves family, will be in attendance. Both films are part of the international features competition.

Wim Wenders will receive the festival’s highest honor, the Evolution Honorary Award 2021, at the opening night ceremony and his film “The Salt of the Earth” (2014) will be screened.

Suzanne Lindon, whose “Spring Blossom” (France) is in competition at the festival, will receive the 2021 Evolutionary Award – New Talent accolade.

Liane Moriarty has made her way back to the screen with another hit show adapted from one of her best-selling novels. Following 2017’s “Big Little Lies,” Hulu’s “Nine Perfect Strangers” premiered on Aug. 18 with three buzzy episodes.

The series, which stars Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Bobby Cannavale and Regina Hall, takes place in a tropical wellness resort where an eerie retreat leader promises nine broken strangers (none of which know each other) that they’ll leave happier than they came. But it soon becomes clear that she has a plan for them that none of them could have expected.

The episodes will continue dropping on Hulu every week through Sept.

Two years after introducing fans to new singer Jeff Gutt on their self-titled LP, Stone Temple Pilots will return with their new album Perdida, which arrives on stores on February 7th. It’s an acoustic record largely recorded on vintage instruments.

“This is an album we’ve been wanting to make for quite some time,” says Stp bassist Robert DeLeo. “Most of our songs start acoustically and we felt these would come across in the most genuine way if we kept them that way.”

Exclusive: Endeavor Content is making a move in the unscripted TV space with the acquisition of Andrew Glassman’s Los Angeles-based production company Glassman Media. The company behind such non-scripted series as The Wall and Spin the Wheel, will continue to operate independently, with founder and President Andrew Glassman remaining in his role overseeing the company.

No financial details are being revealed but sources are pegging the value of the deal at more than $60 million. The pact was negotiated before Endeavor Content parent Endeavor’s push for an Ipo last month, which the company ultimately shelved.

“Andrew has created hit after hit of non-scripted series that have a unique ability to connect with audiences around the world,” said Endeavor Content Co-Presidents Chris Rice and Graham Taylor. “We are excited to partner with Andrew and see what innovative concept he comes up with next.”

“Big Little Lies” fans may soon be heading over to Netflix to get their Liane Moriarty drama fix, as the streaming service currently has a TV adaptation of the author’s novel “Three Wishes” set for development, an individual with knowledge of production tells TheWrap.

The project is backed by EveryWhere Studios, which optioned the rights to an adaptation of the book, to be written by Lila Feinberg, a playwright and writer on TV Land’s “Younger.”

“Three Wishes” centers around three wildly different sisters as their lives intertwine and unfold around a glamorous Manhattan wedding weekend that ends in sudden tragedy. Singapore – 12 April 2012 – NBCUniversal International today announced that Still Standing, its new primetime trivia competition format, has been sold to Chinese broadcaster, Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation. This is NBCUniversal’s first format sale to China and the series will be aired in Mandarin, known locally as 一站到底. Still Standing China will debut in March and will run in a weekly primetime slot for 26 episodes. In China, Still Standing will be based on the hit Israeli format from Armoza Formats and July-August Productions where one contestant must compete and beat 10 challengers in a high-stakes trivia battle for top prizes. Still Standing is currently in production in seven countries, including Us, Spain and Turkey – with many versions in its second season. NBCUniversal recently announced that Brazilian Broadcaster, Bandeirantes also picked up the format – Still Standing’s first version in Latin America. Former Svp alternative development at NBC Jayson Dinsmore has joined Cmt as Evp development. He will oversee all development for the channel and manage the network’s development team, based primarily out of Cmt’s Santa Monica offices, reporting to Cmt president Brian Philips. Dinsmore succeeds Bob Kusbit who recently left to return to producing full-time. Philips called Dinsmore "a production-savvy executive with a deep background in hit reality, (who) enjoys a terrific reputation within the La community." Alright, I’ll admit that I’m a sucker for a good spooky, atmospheric ghost story. Not that I mind a gore filled romp once in a while, but nothing is better to me than being afraid to turn out the lights when I finish a story, and Dark Regions’ new Ghost House imprint is releasing just the kind of stories I love.

Dark Regions Press has released the second title in their Ghost House imprint, Quill & Candle by Scott Thomas. The first was They That Dwell In Dark Places by Daniel McGachey which I reviewed here.

Swayze was born in Houston, Texas, on April 18, 1952. His mother was choreographer Patsy Swayze, and Patrick trained as a dancer in the early 1970s. He made his film debut in the roller-disco flick Skatetown, U.S.A. in 1979.

Swayze earned honorary membership in `the Brat Pack’ with his role as Rob Lowe and C. Thomas Howell’s older brother in the 1983 film The Outsiders. He starred as Jed Eckert, leader of the Wolverines, the young freedom fighters who battled Soviet invaders in John Milius’ 1984 Cold War classic Red Dawn.

You know, those movies that high-minded cineastes love to turn their noses up at, especially critics for The New York Times, people with MFAs in some sort of film-related field, or just plain snobs who refuse to acknowledge anything released on celluloid that doesn’t have English subtitles and at least one reference to death, either as a character or a metaphor (and oftentimes both). Patrick Swayze was the undisputed King of the Guilty Pleasure. From his screen debut in Skatetown, USA in 1979, to his final appearance on television’s "The Beast" as a take-no-prisoners cop, Swayze was an unapologetic good ol’ boy who happened to be a classically-trained dancer, student of martial arts and Eastern philosophy, and possessor of an Iq that was nothing to sneeze at. Patrick Swayze, who soared to stardom as a heartthrob dancer in "Dirty Dancing" and ascended to romantic icon status as a deceased lover in "Ghost," died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," said a statement released Monday evening by his publicist Annett Wolf.

The actor had kept working despite the diagnosis, putting together a memoir with his wife and shooting "The Beast," an A&E drama series for which he had already made the pilot. It drew a respectable 1.3 million viewers when the 13 episodes ran last winter, but A&E said it had reluctantly decided not to renew it for a second season.

IMG Global Media head Chris Albrecht has made a deal with Glassman Media to partner on producing and distributing unscripted television series.

As part of the agreement, Glassman Media (Average Joe, Three Wishes, Bingo America) will exclusively develop and produce original reality formats for IMG, which will distribute the resulting projects worldwide.

"Partnering with Chris, Rob [Lee], and their team at IMG has been like joining a dream-team for creative development and business execution," said Glassman Media head Andrew Glassman. "I am thrilled to be a part of Chris and Rob's vision and their focus on quality."

Glassman Media's previous deal was with Fox Television Studios. The company's latest production, Bingo America, recently launched a 40-episode run on GSN.

Albrecht was formerly chairman and CEO of HBO.

Former DGA topper Martha Coolidge has inked with Paradigm Talent & Literary for representation. The filmmaker is in postproduction on the romantic comedy The Prince and Me, starring Julia Stiles and Luke Mably. The film, a Sobini Films production, is due for release early next year from Paramount Pictures. Coolidge's other credits include Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, Out to Sea, Three Wishes, Lost in Yonkers, Rambling Rose and Real Genius. Coolidge served as president of the DGA for one year, taking over for Jack Shea in March 2002. She was replaced by Michael Apted in June and now serves as first vp of the DGA.
