Legendary Couple

The movie's English title is "Legendary Couple", which is a title that hardly makes any sense for the story told in this 1995 movie from director Peter Ngor.

I happened to get the chance to sit down and watch "Legendary Couple" (aka "Ngo si yat gor chak") in 2020. Prior to this, I had not heard about the movie. Despite the movies atrocious cover, I was intrigued to watch it as it had both Simon Yam and Chingmy Yau on the cast list.

Well, the storyline in the movie, as written by Ting Chau and Yin Nam was bland, and at times just downright befuddled and making little to no sense. However, there was a red thread throughout the movie, which made it possible to stick with it to the end, but it was hardly an overly entertaining or outstanding movie experience in the Hong Kong cinema. And most certainly a weak movie for the mid-1990s in Hong Kong cinema.

This movie was by no means the best work of both Simon Yam and Chingmy Yau.

I managed to sit through the entire movie, but I was only mildly entertained. And while I did manage to watch it all, the movie failed to leave a lasting impression on me, and it is hardly a movie that warrant a second viewing.

My rating of "Legendary Couple" is a very mediocre five out of ten stars.
