In a scene in the Dominican Republic, a dog appears next to Balbuena and Fellito. This was a trained dog that was supposed to host the soul of Balbuena's dead wife (and act and show emotions accordingly). But the day of the filming, the dog didn't feel like acting and just lay down. The efforts to make the dog perform were useless, so its role had to be left out of the script.
Official submission of the Dominican Republic for the 'Best Foreign Language Film' category of the 68th Academy Awards in 1996.
