Lifts footage from Steven Spielberg's Jaws (1975), Jeannot Szwarc's Jaws 2 (1978), Joe D'Amato's Deep Blood (1989), and mostly from Enzo G. Castellari's The Last Shark (1981), and Jaws 3 (1983).
Marketed as "Jaws 5: Cruel Jaws", even though the movie has no connection with Jaws (1975), or any of its sequels.
The mafia and the bullying subplots in the film were actually deleted parts in the original 1974 Jaws novel and were later inspired in this film.
Shout Factory announced that the film would be released on a double feature with another movie in 2015, but canceled it to avoid legal issues, as the film contains stock footage from Jaws (1975) and Jaws 2 (1978).
The cast was made up of non-union locals from Florida.
