        Rather than learn Romanian for her part, Dame Kristin Scott Thomas read her lines phonetically. She had all the lines translated into French, which she speaks fluently, so she knew what she was saying. She was going to be dubbed, but in the end they didn't bother because she was able to say it with enough conviction.

      A Beautiful Film that Deserves to Be Seen

      The director manages to pack a lot of local color and drama into a spare 82 minutes. The costumes and scenery are gorgeous, and the acting is superb. And the story itself is both poignant and uplifting. A romantic drama in the Ayn Rand tradition.
