Danny Aiello and Lauren Bacall clashed during filming, with Bacall calling him a bully due to his behaviour towards other cast members.

Ute Lemper was actually nine months pregnant with her first child, Max, during the shoot. She later admitted that she and Altman were "afraid that my water would break any minute - I mean, I was ready!" She gave birth three days after filming wrapped.
Robert Altman filmed extensively during the real Parisian fashion catwalks, capturing the real spring collections of that year and a host of real-life celebrities. Altman and his writer Barbara Shulgasser then integrated several different storylines into the footage that they had acquired.
Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni recreate their iconic striptease sequence from Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (1963), adding a comic footnote that references the passing of time.
