Yes, the first movie to come out with this title. Yes, this is written by the same guy who wrote the T and A flick The Beach Girls, but more surprisingly, Nick Of Time, which was to come out a few years late,r after this. In one sense, this is like one of those Art house films, carried strongly by it's hateful character lead, where to hide his insecurities, gets off, hurting and destroying people. He has a photographic studio in a big house, all alone, which is a base for making pornographic movies. His younger brother, who's the butt of his older brother's cruelty, works with him. You do feel a little sorry for Mr Hateful, in spite of his hateful world, and his cruelties he bears upon other people, like Margot Kidder, a sick relation or acquaintance, dependent drug user, who gives him a piece of her mind. Another instance, has a young girl off the street, cuddling up to him. On the account of having a bad dream, he wakes up, and orders the young black haired beauty to leave, before she gives him a piece of her mind too, telling him, "I hope the rest of your life is a fu..ing nightmare". We even have a scene near the end, where he beaks down, crying, at the realization of all his bad acts, but too, a realization of why. The only real person he doesn't hurt is a young journalist (Melora Hardin) doing a piece on him. The memorably standout scene, has his philosophic old gardener telling him a story that mirrors his own hateful self, who ends the story, as it touches too close to home, which you can understand why he did it. The Pornograper that puts the R in pornographer (check out the cover, you know what l mean) really is surprisingly tame, if you're expecting a lot of nudity. It decides to carry more respect as a movie drama, even though this isn't a good one. We see a bit of what goes on in porn shoots, like bad vibes between performers, and cocky actors. This flick, sorry movie, overall, can't hide the fact it has a bit of a blandness. You couldn't recommend this film to many people, despite it's good intentions. Anti social lovers would lap this film up, like Malibu High, where in the end, this film is gonna be remembered for much, despite many good performances, our lead, one of the nastiest pieces of work, you've seen in a long time.
