Rita and Runt were originally conceptualized as hosts of the show akin to The Abbott and Costello Show (1952) before Tom Ruegger scrapped the idea because he felt that it did not align with the idea of the show's "energy."

When the series was shown in reruns on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons, almost all references to Warner Bros. were removed from the opening, allowing for a very unusual transition involving the Nickelodeon logo bursting and the opening cut right to the Warner Bros. water tower door opening.
