“Veselka: The Rainbow on the Corner at the Center of the World,” Michael Fiore’s documentary about a New York Ukrainian restaurant, will receive digital and physical releases from Gravitas Ventures. Starting on Nov. 12, the film will be available on Blu-ray and major streamers in the U.S. and Canada.

Shaun Weiss played Greg Goldberg in The Mighty Ducks, but it’s been a long time since he’s laced up his skates and hit the ice. In fact, it’s been nearly three decades, with the last time being during the production of the third Mighty Ducks movie. Given the actor’s health and addiction struggles, it’s heartwarming to see him having some fun.

We were this close to being done with Paramount M&a drama. Not so fast.

Just ahead of the deadline for Paramount’s 45-day “go-shop period,” in which the company could entertain offers from anyone not named David Ellison, Edgar Bronfman Jr. formally submitted his own bid for Paramount Global, the Wall Street Journal reported. At a glance, Bronfman’s bid is very similar to what the Skydance CEO offered Shari Redstone, who in turn accepted. There is one major difference however, and it could make the Seagram’s heir a real champion of the common man — or at least the common stockholder.

Paramount’s special committee is tasked with determining if Bronfman’s offer “is or would reasonably be expected to lead to a superior proposal” than its bird in the hand. The committee can now extend the shopping window by 15 days, and Ellison still has the chance to...

Exclusive: Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham and The Nightingale‘s Aisling Franciosi have joined the cast of Three Point Capital and David Permut Production’s movie Twinless. They will star opposite previously announced Dylan O’Brien and James Sweeney.

"Next Goal Wins" stumbled out of the gate in its opening weekend at the box office, which is unfortunate news for director Taika Waititi. After last year's disappointing "Thor: Love and Thunder," I was hoping his football/soccer-themed comedy would feel like a return to the types of smaller, more personal movies he made earlier in his career. Sadly, the film is a total misfire. I didn't laugh a single time, and it explores its story of a team overcoming adversity through the myopic lens of its white coach, played by Michael Fassbender. There are a couple of nods to what the game means to the players and the culture of American Samoa, but the film is frustratingly committed to seeing most of the action through the eyes of Fassbender's Thomas Rongen, and basically congratulating him for eventually learning to tolerate the existence of trans people.

Disney+ has decided not to pick up a completed TV series adaptation of the imaginative The Spiderwick Chronicles book series, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The six-episode series from Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television, a division of Disney, is being shopped to other possible buyers.

Disney touted the adaptation of the books of the same name by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black as “a modern coming-of-age story combined with fantasy adventure” when the project was first unveiled in Nov. 2021, with Jack Dylan Grazer, Joy Bryant, Mychala Lee, Christian Slater, Lyon Daniels and Noah Cottrell set for the ensemble cast and Kat Coiro to direct two episodes.

Cain directs from a script by John Fusco. Young Guns revolves around a group of young gunmen, led by Billy the Kid, who become deputies to avenge the murder of the rancher who became their benefactor. However, when Billy takes their authority too far, they become the hunted.

Historian Paul Hutton once called Young Guns the most historically accurate of all films focusing on the dirty deeds of Billy the Kid as of its year of release.

Disney is set to take a $1.5 billion write-down during the fiscal third quarter after the entertainment giant removed more than 30 shows off of Disney+ and Hulu last month in an effort to bring down costs, according to a Friday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

On May 26, Disney pulled shows like The World According to Jeff Goldblum, Y: The Last Man, The Mighty Ducks, Turner & Hooch, Willow, Maggie, Dollface and the 2022 Cheaper By the Dozen off of its streaming services. During the company’s May earnings call, Disney CFO Christine McCarthy said the company expected to take on upwards of $1.8 billion in impairment charges as a result of removing the content.

Friday’s SEC filing said Disney is “continuing its review” and is expecting to remove additional produced content from its streaming services during the third quarter, with those removals expected to incur an additional $400 million write-down.

Best known for his recurring roles on the TV shows “Everwood” and “The Soul Man,” actor John Beasley passed away on Tuesday, May 30 at the age of 79, THR reports.

The site reports, “Beasley died in a hospital in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. He had been undergoing tests on his liver before taking an unexpected turn for the worst.”

The veteran character actor’s son, Mike Beasley, confirmed the news on Tuesday with a heartbreaking post on Facebook, paying tribute to his late father.

John Beasley, an actor best known for his roles on the TV shows ‘Everwood’ and ‘The Soul Man,’ died Tuesday at the age of 79.

Beasley’s son Mike shared the news of his father’s death on Facebook.

“Man…you know this is a part of life…but that doesn’t make it any easier,” Mike W. Beasley wrote above a photo of him and his father. “I lost my best friend today. They say you shouldn’t ever meet your heroes because they don’t turn out to be who you thought they were. That is so wrong. My hero was my father. Thank you for everything. I hope I made you proud. Love you more.”

The character actor died in a hospital in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, where he’d been undergoing tests on his liver before his condition unexpectedly worsened, Beasley’s son Tyrone told The Hollywood Reporter.

John Beasley, the admired character actor who played the school bus driver Irv Harper on The WB drama Everwood and Barton Bellentine, the father of Cedric the Entertainer’s character, on the TV Land comedy The Soul Man, died Tuesday. He was 79.

As previously teased during the company's quarter one earnings call, the company is purging several titles from its streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu.

The practice has become common in recent months, with HBO Max leading the charge, wiping several projects from existence.

Undoubtedly, fans and creatives are struggling with the concept, but maybe some of the affected shows could show up elsewhere.

"We will be removing certain content from our streaming platforms and currently expect to take an impairment charge of approximately $1.5 to $1.8 billion," Disney's chief financial officer, Christine McCarthy, said during the earnings call.

Westworld, The Nevers, and other HBO fare popped back up on Fast services shortly after the controversial decision.

But for some shows, this could be the death knell that could be the difference whether new fans find them down the line.

Unfortunately, we’ve learned this week that Stine’s “Just Beyond” will be one of many Disney+ original projects that are soon being deleted from the streaming service entirely.

As The Hollywood Reporter explains, “Disney is following Warner Bros. Discovery and removing under-performing titles from its streaming services in a bid to write off nearly $2 billion from its bottom line. In all, there are more than 30 shows that will be removed starting next week from the platforms in this first round of reductions. The titles will vanish starting May 26.”

Both Disney+ and Hulu will “pull an HBO Max” on Friday, May 26, and (not-so-)quietly remove dozens of shows from their respecting streaming libraries.

Disney’s chief financial officer, Christine McCarthy, gave a heads-up on the library edit during the company’s recent Q1 earnings call, saying, “We will be removing certain content from our streaming platforms and currently expect to take an impairment charge” — or, write-off — “of approximately $1.5 to $1.8 billion.”

Update, July 4: Another victim of Disney’s cost-cutting on the streaming front has emerged: “Crater,” a sci-fi adventure film about a group of children that hijack a rover before a member of the group relocates to a new planet. The film, starring Mckenna Grace and Isaiah Russell-Bailey with a featured role played by Kid Cudi, drew mostly positive reviews around its debut on the streaming service on May 12. Roughly seven weeks later, “Crater” has been pulled from Disney+.
