I fell in love with this film when it was first released and I've been chasing a DVD copy of it for years. I know pretty much every line in the film (I know, I know, I have no life...) For those of you who didn't know, the DVD was finally released in early 2005...and there was much rejoicing :-D.
The DVD release has English subtitles but I don't think you will gain as much pleasure out of it if you don't speak Serbian. Despite its relatively low budget it's really well directed and produced, and masterfully shot.
It's Srdjan Dragojevic's film-school graduation piece which shot him into instant fame. And he kept it going with every new film he made. He's a truly original world-class director equally capable of making entertaining films and serious art. I really hope he gets his big shot overseas one day.

A comedy like "We are not angels" was never seen before. An ordinary story, told in such an original way! Srdjan Dragojevic made all the generations laugh from the beginning to the end of the film, and there's probably no one who had seen it for only one time!!The actors are great!!!!All of them!
This is one of the cult Serbian movies. Despite some people having emotional outbursts of hatred towards everything about this movie,it's a great movie. Srdjan Todorovic,as a drummer for Ekatarina Velika (the best Serbian rock band of all time),and an actor in many movies and TV shows has shown that he is extremely talented, contrary to some statements. Uros Djuric has actually done pretty well, considered that he's a painter, not an actor,so a mix of talents did pretty well. Nikola Kojo, one of the best Serbian actors, was simply brilliant in this movie. His non-emotion standing in this movie gave it the flavour it needed to rise as one of the best Serbian movies ever. A great movie, and a cool comedy! As I said,a cult movie of a generation!
Do you know that feeling when you watch some film, you immediately fall in love with it's imaginary world, you start to identify with every character? Well, that's what happens when you see 'The Angels' for the first, second and every next time! Cute story told in a brilliant way,it's full of charming Belgrade's sense of humor that has been in zenith in early 90's.Central characters are The Angel and The Devil, competing about Nikola, a twenty-and-something womanizing student of the world literature, a city's wise-guy whose cozy way of life is being roughly interrupted by impregnating Marina, a clumsy high school graduate at a party, who wants to keep the baby, while Nikola believes it's not necessary. Generations in Serbia knows to tell this film by heart, and I highly recommend it to anyone abroad because it's a great way of meeting and understanding Yugoslav pop culture. It also has an outstanding soundtrack. Recommended for whoever is sick and tired with shallow Hollywood teen comedies that are overwhelming our Space and Time nowadays!
At the very top of Serbian cinema. In my opinion, only "Lepa sela lepo gore" can compete with "Angels". Of course, I'm talking about Serbian, not Yugoslav film. Movies made from World War II until the breakup of Yugoslavia are completely different category and I think that these two periods can not be ranked together at all.

This is probably the funniest comedy ever made in Serbia. Not a minute passes without a laugh, and citations from this movie are still actual all across Serbia.
I am not sure how much not knowing the language (Serbian) would affect the joy of watching the movie, but I'm sure that it's worth a try. I've seen it for the 4th time a few days ago, and I feel it will never become boring. Off course, it is intended to amuse you and nothing more, but it does a great job.
Most of the best Serbian actors of the decade were involved in making it, and some become popular thanks to this film. By the way, there is a mini-TV series made by adding up more material, but as far as I know it was only on TV once. There are two sequels as well; part two is very funny but not as original as this one, and part three was made with intention of making something different, and (I think) quite successfully.

First ime i saw it I was 12 years old, now I'm 45 and I watched It probably 10 times and never gets old.
Has that ex Yugoslavia humor that always makes me smile. It's just different to western movies or new movies from this area.
Decades after they record second and third part but they cant even hold a handle to original.
It's about guy who went to party and was to drunk to remember with who he sleep with but she was pregnant and is something that happened to me also decades ago. She wants a baby with him but he don't want, he feels he is not father type so he try to avoid.
So maybe that same happens to me it's why I like this movie so much.

Utter kitsch and the most offensive 'humour' in what is a series of episodes, rather than a coherent plot with an actual story arc. It takes a special kind of primitive to find this garbage even watchable.
