Katey Sagal was pregnant while filming the movie. Sadly she had a miscarriage. The baby's name was Ruby.
Those "baby pictures" (that is, early-life photographs) of Justine Essex, shown in the opening title-sequence, are in fact those of 'Charlotte Ross'; she and her family loaned those photos to the production.
'Charlotte Ross' made this movie on the heels of Days of Our Lives (1965). As soon as her final Days of Our Lives (1965) scene (after four years of co-starring as Eve Donovan) was completed, she caught a plane to North Carolina where this film was shot.
Casting Katey Sagal and Charlotte Ross as mother and daughter is something of a stretch, in that their real-life age difference is only 14 years and 2 days. However, the daughter makes a sarcastic remark about her mother not having been careful when she was young, suggesting she was a very young mother.
