Decent picture , starring Carmen Maura and Mario Gas and that was selected to contest at the Venice Festival . A likeable whore nicknamed Zabú (Carmen Maura) lives with her daughter (Marieta Orozco) and another prostitute (Rosario Flores) in a little dirty industrial town. Both live in the house of a small-time delinquent (Alex Casanovas) while Zabu dreaming of going to Outback , along with their daughter Lola and where her brother owns an Australian restaurant , being waiting for them. One day a cripple police officer (Mario Gas) shows up claiming to be the girl's dad. Things go wrong when the cop executes violent acts against them .
Thriller and drama movie dealing with a hooker and a policeman and their complex and thunderous relationships . This is an intriguing and suspenseful Spanish production full of incidents , twists and turns with a compelling tale of intersecting narratives . The film contains violence , thrills , emotion and intense drama . Stirring and interesting screenplay from Gaztambide, Jose Vitoria and Felix Rotaeta himself. Cast and support cast are pretty well . Carmen Maura gives a nice acting as Zabu , a hooker living with her daughter Lola . Mario Gas gives a tough performance as a violent cop who attempts to avoid they flee at whatever means and wanting to retire both of them from their current life. Secondary actors are adequate and fitting to their roles, such as Àlex Casanovas , Rosario Flores , Marieta Orozco , Santi Ricart ,Walter Vidarte and brief appearance by Pere Ponce.
It packs an atmospheric and evocative musical score by Carlos Miranda . And appropriate cinematography by Josep M. Civit . This photographer Josep M Civit is one of the best Spanish cameramen, as he has demonstrated in "The Hidden Face" , ¨Shiver¨, ¨Warriors¨ , ¨The Absent" , ¨Asphalt¨ , ¨Anguish¨ and many others .The motion picture was well produced by Jose' Samano and professionally directed by Félix Rotaeta, besides the flick attended Venice Festival with a certain success . Felix (Madrid, April 1, 1942 - Barcelona, November 23, 1994) Rotaeta was a good actor, director and Spanish writer. After studying journalism and dramatic art he began to devote himself to acting through the independent theater group Los Goliardos, in which he remained from 1965 until its dissolution in 1972 .
