Patricia Kalember's husband in real life, Daniel Gerroll, had a recurring role in season five. He played psychiatrist Dr. David Caspian, who was counseling her character Georgie.
Sela Ward was initially offered the part of Frankie. However after reading the script, Ward wanted to try out for the character of Teddy instead.
Initially Patricia Kalember commuted from New York, where her family is based, to LA to film the series. However, after three seasons the traveling became too stressful. She asked to be taken out of six shows a year, so she could handle the commute better.
Sela Ward was pregnant in real life during the fourth season. Producers chose to hide her pregnancy, rather than write it into the storyline. Ward never had to take time off from the show, as she subsequently gave birth shortly after the filming of season four was completed.
