One of a number of Walt Disney productions made about castaways. These include the studio's hit 1960 family castaway film Swiss Family Robinson (1960), their 1962 movie In Search of the Castaways (1962), Shipwrecked (1990), The Castaway Cowboy (1974) and The Last Flight of Noah's Ark (1980).
This is a dubbed movie. When Merrick first speaks in the film, he is speaking English in the original version. This also happens later in the film with other characters that should speak English. In the R2 DVD (Håkon Håkonsen) you can see this as they translate the English into Norwegian during those scenes. The score and the title intro are also unique or differently placed throughout the film.
The 128th Live-Action film produced by Disney.
