The mall in this movie was actually based on a real mall, the Kirkgate Shopping Mall in Bradford, England. Owing to a dispute with security officers, the Kirkgate Mall refused to be acknowledge in the end credits
The music that Buzz (Pauly Shore) plays in the control room can also be heard in episodes of Spongebob Squarepants.
This the first time Pauly Shore has been in a horror movie.
