Its a quite sensitive romantic action musical Its music is spectacular and it was widely appreciated and most of its sequences are very well done. Its basically a poor boy meets rich girl kinda story but in here our hero is a son of a police constrable and he is in love with the corrupted governor's daughter and the story revolves around with the characters backed by beautiful scenes and music this film was way ahead of its time when released and can still enjoy watching it. its a group effort and good direction by Shankar and spectacular music by A.R Rahman Prabu Deva has done good acting this movie was his launch pad as an actor and this movie also gave A R Rehman a national recognition backed by splendid performance by Girish Karnad and Raghu Varan (Villian)

Usual love story with the mixing of crime and political..but songs and photography had played important role... Just entertain movie..!!

I watched "Humse hai muqabla" only because I likes 2 songs in the film -Urvasi Urvasi and Muqala Muqabla.

Story - Basically a love story with a mix of politics and crime in it. A college secretary from humble background falls in love with the chief minister's daughter, and that is not accepted by their families.

The best aspects are only the music, the choreography and some of the stunt sequences. That's all.

Otherwise the film is just phattu and lengthy - comedy, dance, action...all this mixed in over 2.5 hours. Surely it cannot work out nowadays.

Simple description, right?

ARR music and prabhu deva's dance are the only good thing worth watching. Rest of the film is not at all of Shankar's level. Its a run of the mill love story which any b grade director could have made.
