The film features a number of later well known Vancouver actors and was directed by Larry Kent who is known as one of the pioneers of modern filmmakers in Vancouver, BC. Dave Foley said in a 2009 interview with Nathan Rabin that he was flown to Vancouver for the final audition for the lead along with another future Canadian star, Keanu Reeves. Dave also said that producer Peter Simpson told him over the phone that he won the role by saying: "Davey, we had to choose between funny and sexy. And we chose funny." and of Keanu Reeves, "I had met him before. He was like a kid, really. He was a little bit younger then me, so when you're in your early 20's, a few years makes a big difference."
