- TriviaJohn Hughes wasn't happy during filming of this movie, because it interfered with another project he cared about much more and resulted in his working a punishing schedule for months, but he agreed to direct it because Universal gave him a deal where he could also direct the more-valued project if he started this one first. The other film: The Breakfast Club (1985).
- Goofs(at around 55 mins) The piano girl is sucked into the bottom of the chimney feet first but when she is ejected at the top of the chimney, she emerges head first.
- Crazy creditsAs the end credits roll is ready to begin, Kelly LeBrock's character smiles / winks at the camera.
- Alternate versionsIn the basic cable version, the line "In the family jewels?" was changed to "In the flippin' gizzard?"
- ConnectionsEdited from Sixteen Candles (1984)

Better Than Regular Science!
Weird Science is a classic.
Bill Paxton as Chet is simply awesome and the 2 boys play it perfectly.
It has John Hughes's finger prints all over it but he is amazing at what he does.
Its not the funniest film ever made but it is super entertaining and fun :)
