Despite not being in the original novel, early versions of the script included the character of Colonel Race, played by David Niven in Death on the Nile (1978). Niven was offered to return but had to decline due to his failing health.
Emily Hone (who plays Linda Marshall) only made one more film after this and then quit show-business for good to concentrate on her studies. In 2022, 40 years after this film was released, she was running a small arts and crafts business in Bournemouth, England that specializes in needlework products such as cushion covers, tapestry and online needlework courses.
