Here we have a well made movie, well directed, well acted, well cut with excellent sequences full of meaning, but based on a banal story of pimps, whores and cabaret singers and scenes, and grafted into the bargain and somewhat forcedly, with a plot of a conspiracy made by extreme right militants against communist party premises or lodgings to attack them with bombs; this takes place in Portugal in the seventies of the last century when immediately after the Revolution of 1974 the extreme right launched a lot of attacks to Communist Party buildings since they thought the Party was ready to take power in the country. So nothing particularly original. Anyway we must stress the work of Lia Gama, an exceptional actress indeed, in the role of a cabaret singer becomes sexually involved with the main character, a pimp who lives at his godmother expenses among other not much moral expediencies.
