- The 1992 RCA Videodisc version of the film fades before the credits end, omitting the title card that tells us that Bond will return in "For Your Eyes Only".
- Later DVD and Blu-ray versions shrink the title sequence (by a gradual yet jarring size adjustment rather than a discrete change between shots: about 5 1/3 seconds at the beginning and a quicker 2 1/4 at the end, masked by the spotlight shadow effect) to add a black border on all sides. This is sometimes done to prevent important textual elements from being cut off by older TVs, but there is nothing in danger in this sequence.
- Cut in Sweden (about 90 sec) when released theatrically. Some of the cuts are when Bond fights with Sandor, Bond fights with Jaws on the train, a fight by the pyramid and when Bond kills Stromberg.
- US network TV broadcasts over the years have handled Bond's shooting of Stromberg differently. ABC Network prints shown in the 1980s show Bond firing twice. The June 2002 showing on ABC edited out all but the first shot. The opening credit sequence was altered by ABC since its first TV airing on November 9, 1980 where the network censored the nude silhouettes by using a section of the opening credit sequence by rolling the film in reverse. Also, the death of Stromberg's assistant has a few seconds removed depicting the shark attack in response to the ABC network airing the Steven Spielberg film Jaws during the Fall 1980 season.
