Vicente Aranda discovered Bibí Andersen doing a similar show to the one she does on the movie and like her so much he wrote the role for her (hence both being named Bibi).

Many roles in the film are played by actors members of the same family: Manuel Gas and Mario Gas (father and son), Vicky Peña (Mario Gas wife) and Montserrat Carulla (Vicky Peña's mother).
