Separated from her parents and alone in a deserted city, Nicky finds a surrogate home with a group of Sikhs.

Nicky and the Sikhs continue their search for a safe place to live, and settle at Brooker's Farm. But soon they find themselves accused of being "The Devil's Children" by superstitious locals.

Nicky, accused of being a witch, is on trial for her life; and it looks as if the verdict is going to be guilty...

The Sikhs, with Nicky's help, are now trading with the local village; but the villagers remain very suspicious - until the arrival of a much more sinister group of strangers. Suddenly the village is attacked and the children, including Nicky, are taken hostage.

Nicky and Jonathon set off to investigate a mysterious power source on the other side of the mountains.

The protagonists enter a cavern and uncover the cause of the unbalancing of the world.

Unknown noises and messages to humanity sent through all electrical appliances. When heard humans destroy all they machinery. Nicky a young school girl gets separated from her parents, who are making their way to the coast for France. Now she must find her parents and fend for herself.

Nicky manages to rescue the village children from the bandits and track down her aunt, but her troubles are by no means over when the farm is visited by a witch-finder.

Nicky and Jonathon escape from the village but the witch-finder and enraged villagers are in hot pursuit!

Modern day England, where everyone has rebelled against modern technology and gone back to a pre-industrial revolution way of life.
