Paco Martínez Soria recital displaying his usual sympathy , tics and hilarious skills Don Juan Alcántara (Paco Martinez Soria) , who went from a village working as a pharmaceutic to capital , becoming a financier ; however , nowadays , he goes bankrupt. He lives with his wife (Florinda Chico) and daughter Regina (Maria Kosty) at a flat in Madrid outskrits , where also stands his sister-in-law (Mary Carmen Prendes) and nephew (Luis Varela) . He does not dare to confess it to his family , since the unanimous opinion of those who know him , he is a henpecked or Calzonazos . While his daughter decides to get engaged to the son of a supposed rich businessman (Alfredo Mayo) , thinking of the marriage will stabilize family economy . However, when Juan finds out that his future in-law is a real scammer , he fakes a drowsiness to avoid the marriage proposal . His lack of character is remedied by his doctor (Antonio Ferrandis) , who provides him some pills with the prescription so that everyone obeys him: pretend that he is suffering from a madness attack and if he is contradicted he can lead to homicide.

One of the most representative and engaging comedies of this great comedian , Paco Martinez Soria , with his typical Aragonés role , as a traditional man following old habits , based on ¨La Locura de Don Juan¨written by Carlos Arniches . This is an enjoyable though average flick , in which this likeable actor develops his archetypal character of an elderly and traditional man to save his family from distresses and different misfortunes , and providing some messages as the unnecessary materialism that annuls the soul and morals of people . The film is one more of its age , a wealthy man goes bankrupt and misses the values of the people , then he changes the mind and he plans some tricks to make himself respected . Paco Martinez Soria was one the best comedian actors who made several films in the similar premise , they are all the same, they have the same formulas, the same sense of humor, but I am aware of it and I am aware why I use to watch these films, and to have a good time, escaping from the reality of the world and also learn something about human values . The film is quite delightful from start to finish thanks to this over-the-top actor , as Paco steals the show with his Aragonese accent , and his particular manners as a grumpy and intimate old person . Here Paco is well accompanied by a good cast such as : the always agreeable Mari Carmen Prendes , María Kosty Emilio Laguna , Guadalupe Muñoz Sampedro , Alfonso del Real , Antonio Ferrandis , Laly Soldevila , Alfredo Mayo , Juán José Otegui , Goyo Lebrero and Emilio Gutiérrez Caba , Luis Varela , both of whom are still working .

It is an average picture , being middlingly but professionally directed by Mariano Ozores in his usual style and had success enough in the Spanish box office . Mariano's family origin is into show business , being son of Mariano Ozores Sr and brother of José Luis Ozores and Antonio Ozores . Furthermore , uncle of Emma Ozores and Adriana Ozores . Many actors and technicians worked and ate thanks to the huge success of his films . Those contained many nude girls , laughs and slapstick . Mariano is a craftsman filmmaker and writer , in fact he wrote the fun screenplay , he recently won a Goya Award (2016) to his long and fruitful career . Mariano made with two famous comedians -Fernando Esteso and Andres Pajares- several films , as they had various years partnership between the two leads , such as ¨Agitese Antes Usarla¨ , ¨Al Este Del Oeste¨, ¨Los Liantes¨, ¨Los Energeticos¨, ¨La Lola Lleva Al Huerto¨ , ¨El Currante¨ , ¨El Hijo Del Cura¨...these films are filled with humor that still holds up , especially for those not easily offended ; being sometimes cheesy and gross-out with numerous naughty and picaresque situations such as sex jokes , adulteries , crazy events , nudism , absurd situations , jealousy , and erotic scenes . Plus , they partially reflected the mood and the reality of Spain in the immediate Post-Franco era , dealing with politic juncture about the post-Franquismo in similar style to other films from this period . Ozores has a prolific career , as writer and as director , especially in comedy genre such as : Disparate Nacional , Tahiti's Girl , Brujas Magicas , Los Presuntos , Cuatro Mujeres Y Un Lío , Tío ¿De Verdad Vienen De París? , Alcalde Por Elección , Ellas Los Prefieren... Locas , El Apolítico , Jenaro El De Los 14 , Manolo La Nuit , El Abuelo Tiene plan , La Llamaban La Madrina , La Graduada , Venta Por Pisos and many others . An acceptable and passable film but very forgettable.
