Despite the English title being "Lake of Dracula", the vampire in the film is not meant to be Dracula although the film does make allusions to the character.
The film's working title was "The Phantom Vampire" and appeared on the early drafts of the script. The finalized title first appeared on the 4th draft of the script. It was submitted a little over 5 months before the movie's release.
