Screenwriter Manfred Purzer later distanced himself from the finished film, citing the many liberties director Zbynek Brynych took with his script as a reason. Funnily enough, the same happened with the film Brynych had made right before, Engel, die ihre Flügel verbrennen (1970) which also displeased screenwriter Herbert Reinecker.
