- Jim Carlton: [peering down at two boats from an airplane] Do you know that boat?
- Smitty: If it's the one I think it is then it's the only one around here like her!
- Jim Carlton: [tender voice-over as a plane flying over snow-covered mountains is shown] Tomorrow I'm going to take you into a very special place.
- Candy Wilson: [asking earnestly, also in voice-over] Is it a special place?
- Jim Carlton: [in car, driving] Mona really did ask you to come tonight, didn't she?
- Candy Wilson: Yes, but that was a week ago Wednesday. She probably forgot.
- Jim Carlton: [mulling that over] She doesn't seem to pay much attention to anything lately.
- Jim Carlton: You know, those guys are crazy.
- Candy Wilson: Yeah, but isn't everybody in their own way?
- Candy Wilson: [criticizing the script] Nobody talks that way!
- Jim Carlton: Well, I didn't write it.
- Candy Wilson: I'm sorry, forget it.
- Jim Carlton: I'm just supposed to direct the picture. It starts in two weeks.
- Candy Wilson: [filled with irony] Lots of luck!
- Jim Carlton: What are we supposed to do, hire a teenager to write our shooting scripts?
- Jim Carlton: It's a good martini.
- [surprised by her know-how:]
- Jim Carlton: How old are you, Candy?
- Candy Wilson: Does it matter?
- Jim Carlton: Well, no, I...
- [she sucks on an olive]
- Jim Carlton: I guess it doesn't.
- Candy Wilson: What's the matter with having a teenage writer?
- Jim Carlton: Well, why not? There's gotta be some way to make contact.
- Candy Wilson: Will that make it pay more? To make contact?
- Jim Carlton: Well, we gotta do something.
- Candy Wilson: If you really mean it, we're going out.
- Jim Carlton: [surprised] Out? Where?
- Candy Wilson: There's something big and new going on out there. And it's,
- [shaking her head]
- Candy Wilson: I don't know, it's different! And if you want to understand it, you've got to really go out and look at it, really look at it!
- Jim Carlton: Let's go!
- Rich Harris: [to Mona] Listen, you hot-shot junkie! You know I'm the only thing between you and him?
- Mona Carlton: Oh, go roll around with Doris! Just leave me alone!
- Doris: [hoarse voice] Rich, what's happening? Come on to bed!
- Rich Harris: Sure, honey. And I've got a present for you.
- Doris: Okay, but hurry!
- Rich Harris: [to Mona] Now you and me are gonna go down there, and show her a good time... and anything she wants, she gets. You're gonna be the star. And you'd better be good.
- Mona Carlton: [dismayed] I can't do that.
- Rich Harris: You're an actress. You make people believe anything.
- [takes her down into the boat, to where his companion awaits]
- Rich Harris: Here's your surprise, Doris. And she tells me she's ready for you.
- Jim Carlton: [about to board plane] Candy, I'm sorry about what happened back there.
- Candy Wilson: Jim, don't be sorry.
- Jim Carlton: Well, all of a sudden it hit me, I was being jealous of my wife, and... and I looked at you... I feel like such a bastard.
- Candy Wilson: No, you're not, you're just a man.
- Jim Carlton: You're a strange girl in many ways, Candy. After being with you, I just don't know... I just...
- Candy Wilson: Don't say anymore.
- [shaking her head emphatically]
- Candy Wilson: Please.
- Candy Wilson: Don't make a big thing out of it. It's very simple. We picked up on each other and we sunk. And now it's too heavy... for both of us. So don't worry about it, I've been there before, okay?
- Jim Carlton: Okay.
- Candy Wilson: If you want me in the next couple of days, I'll be at the racetrack with Mary Mary and the guys.
- Jim Carlton: I'll call you.
- Candy Wilson: [with irony:] Yeah, you do that.
- [rides off on her motorcycle as if she doesn't care]
