More than four decades later, Lech Kaczynski (Jacek) and Jaroslaw Kaczynski (Placek) ascended to the two highest offices in Polish politics. Lech served as the President of Poland from December 23, 2005 until his death in a plane crash on April 10, 2010 whereas Jaroslaw served as the Prime Minister of Poland from July 14, 2006 to November 16, 2007. He has served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Polish National Assembly since the 2007 parliamentary elections.
