Teri Garr, beloved actress and comic of stage and screen, is dead at the age of 79. In the last decades of her life, she became an inspirational figure for those, like her, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, tirelessly working to raise awareness of the disease as a frequent speaker at the annual Race to Erase Ms events.

As much as as she inspired people in her last years, she made people smile and laugh throughout her four-decade career on stage and screen as one of the funniest actresses of her generation, in films such as “Young Frankenstein” and “Tootsie.” She was one of the harder-working people in show business, coming up via true bit parts: She was a background dancer in 1964 teen-focused concert film “The T.A.M.I. Show” and even played the Statue of Liberty in a stage production at Walt Disney World when it opened in 1971.

Mary Tyler Moore once called herself the only one of Elvis Presley’s leading ladies who didn’t sleep with him, but the singer reportedly struck out with more than one co-star. Elvis worked with actor Shelley Fabares on three films and reportedly pursued her across all of them. His bodyguards said it came as a major blow to Elvis’ ego when Fabares continually rejected him.

After Lucille Ball's spunky housewife Lucy signed off on the last episode of "I Love Lucy" but before Mary Tyler Moore did away with the nuclear family sitcom model with her own self-titled show, another actress was one of the faces of womanhood in comedy. Oscar-winning actress Donna Reed headlined "The Donna Reed Show" from 1958 to 1966, playing middle-class mother and housewife Donna Stone in the popular black-and-white series. Reed starred opposite Carl Betz, who played Donna's husband, pediatrician Dr. Alex Stone. In season 5, family friends Midge and Dave joined the fun, but for the most part, the show was all about the lighthearted hijinks of the Stone family.

Though "The Donna Reed Show" was popular upon release, it's now perhaps most often referenced as a pop cultural window into a time before second-wave feminism, when women were expected to spend their time cooking, cleaning, and child-rearing while men went to work.

Eddie Marks, a member of the costume department on such films as The Breakfast Club, The Witches of Eastwick and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and the president of the Western Costume Company since 1992, has died. He was 76.

Marks died Monday of natural causes during a visit to Prague, a spokesman for the company told The Hollywood Reporter.

Marks joined Western Costume in 1989 as a vice president and became president three years later. He helped steer the company from a cramped Melrose Avenue warehouse near the Paramount lot to a hangar-sized building on Vanowen Street in North Hollywood in 1990.

Western Costume was founded sometime between 1912 and 1915 and has been among the world’s largest suppliers of costumes ever since. “What makes us stand out from our competitors is that, over the last 30 years, I’ve bought 11 companies that were costume rental companies,” Marks told THR in a 2019 profile of Western Costume.

Edward “Eddie” Marks, the Emmy-winning president of Western Costume Company, died on Monday in Prague. He was 76.

Marks had a longstanding career in costuming, working his way up to become president of Western Costume Company, where he helped grow the brand into one of the world’s largest costume companies.

Marks was born on July 1, 1947, in Bayonne, N.J. to Lambert Marks and Beverly Hess. By 1952, Mark’s family relocated to the West side of Los Angeles, where he stayed for the rest of his life and began his career in entertainment in 1965.

Marks started out at MGM Studios, working in costuming with the likes of Elvis Presley and on film titles including “Girl Happy,” “Spinout” and “Stay Away.” After leaving MGM in 1968, he began freelancing, going on to work as the costume supervisor for the Emmy-nominated series “The Streets of San Francisco” which starred Karl Malden and Michael Douglas.

Eddie Marks, the president of Western Costume Company whose career in costuming included early collaborations on Elvis Presley films, died Monday while visiting Prague. He was 76.

His death was announced by the company. A cause of death was not disclosed.

Born Edward Howard Marks in Bayonne, NJ, Marks moved with his family to Los Angeles in 1952, and in 1957 they settled in Woodland Hills, where he remained for the rest of his life.

Beginning his career in the MGM Studios mailroom in 1965, Marks would soon work on such mid-1960s Presley films as Girl Happy, Spinout and Stay Away, Joe.

Marks went freelance in 1968, eventually becoming the costume supervisor on the hit TV series Streets of San Francisco (1972-1977) starring Karl Malden and Michael Douglas. In 1988, he received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Costuming for a Mini-Series or Special for his work on the CBS Movie of the Week Shakedown on Sunset Strip.

Back in May, Max added programming from TLC, HGTV and Food Network. That means Discovery’s popular Shark Week will be available to stream when it kicks off on July 23, with programming to be announced soon.

For fans of unscripted series, Season 3 or “90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise: Pillow Talk” (July 4) and Season 5 of “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way” (July 10) are both streaming, as well as the series premiere of “90 Day Fiancé: UK.”

Home renovation fans will want to catch Season 16 of “Barnwood Builders” (July 6) and the special “Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge” (July 16), hosted by Ashley Graham, just in time for the feature film.

The two big ticket items this month are of the superhero variety. My Adventures with Superman arrives to Max on July 7 after making its Adult Swim premiere the night before. The end of the month sees Harley Quinn season 4 making its long-awaited debut on July 27. Other original TV titles of note are the Steven Soderbergh-directed Full Circle (July 13) and the third and final season of How To With John Wilson on July 28.

On the movie side of things, documentary Glitch: The Rise and Fall of HQ Trivia premieres on July 20. Before that on July 13 is both a fresh reboot of filmmaking competition Project Greenlight and the movie that came of it, Gray Matter. Library movies in July include Pulp Fiction, V for Vendetta, Lethal Weapon, and more on July 1.

Here is everything else coming to HBO and Max this month.

The original Max series “Full Circle” debuts on July 13. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, the new drama investigates a kidnapping gone wrong in New York, revealing the secrets and lies of multiple characters. Or as the trailer warns: “Everything is connected.” The six-episode limited series stars Zazie Beetz, Claire Danes, Jim Gaffigan, Jharrel Jerome, Timothy Olyphant, and Dennis Quaid.

The four-part documentary “Last Call: When A Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York” is set in the early 1990s as the AIDS crisis worsens. The media’s distorted coverage of the gay victims, coupled with the homophobic biases of the criminal justice system, undermine the investigation. The docuseries — which premieres on Max on July 9 — illustrates how the LGBTQ+ community fought to solve the murders and demand attention for those murdered.

Max’s July 2023 schedule includes the premiere of the drama Full Circle and the return of Shark Week. The hot summer month’s lineup also includes the final season of How To With John Wilson, the premiere of Project Greenlight, and the final episodes of the popular comedy The Righteous Gemstones.

The two-part documentary The Golden Boy about the life and career of Oscar De La Hoya joins the streaming service’s lineup on July 24th. Shaun White: The Last Run, a docuseries about the Olympian, is set to premiere on July 6th.

Much has been made of titles being quietly removed from HBO Max over the last few week, but while the number of films departing the service in September is substantial, at least subscribers have a heads up.

As is the case every month, various movies are due to leave HBO Max in September, and below we’ve got the full list of which films are leaving and when so you can prioritizing some viewing options. Noteworthy removals include the 2021 Warner Bros. thriller “The Little Things” starring Denzel Washington (leaving Sept. 16), the 2020 “Freaky Friday” horror riff “Freaky,” Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” films, the “Lethal Weapon” franchise, “Super 8,” “Tootsie” and the Nancy Meyers classic “The Holiday.”

Warner Bros. Discovery has had a rough go of it recently. The newly-formed mega corporation’s decision to callously prune HBO Max’s servers of hours of content has led to mountains of bad PR and billions of dollars in market cap losses. Suffice it to say, a jam-packed list of new HBO Max releases for September 2022 would provide some welcome relief for the “House of the House of the Dragon.”

Unfortunately, HBO Max’s new releases this month are uncommonly light. It’s impossible to say whether this is the result of more Wbd meddling or simply some bad scheduling luck but either way it’s not going to make any executives’ seats less warm. There are only a handful of notable originals this month, led by season 2 of the Spanish language comedy Los Espookys on Sept. 16. That is joined by a pair of documentaries, Escape from Kabul on Sept.

As Elvis Presley mesmerizingly sang in the title song to 1964’s Viva Las Vegas, “How I wish that there were more than 24 hours in the day.” His legion of fans will indeed get 24 hours’ worth of a dozen of the King’s movies as he opens TCM’s annual August event, Summer Under the Stars, which honors a different film star each day of the month. Hollywood actor known for her roles in the so-bad-they're-good films of Ed Wood

There are artists in various fields whose fame rests solely on how bad their work is alleged to be. Among them are the poet William McGonagall, the novelist Amanda McKittrick Ros, the soprano Florence Foster Jenkins and the film director Ed Wood. The latter's reputation as the world's worst film-maker rubbed off on Dolores Fuller, his muse, lover and leading lady, who has died aged 88.

It would be unfair to pick on Fuller for her stiff posture and stilted delivery in Wood's movies when the others in the casts were equally awkward, mainly because of the minimum amount of takes and the lack of strong direction.
