- Jesse Glendenning: I won't be needin' you, Sheriff. This may be a long hunt.
- Sheriff Simon: I just got back from one wild goose chase. It won't hurt me to go on another.
- Jesse Glendenning: I said I don't want you!
- Sheriff Simon: I know you did, Jesse, that's why I'm goin'. If it was murder, we'll let a circuit judge decide. I ain't pinnin' a badge on a lynchin' - legal... or otherwise.
- Martha Jane Canary: What are you gawking at? Ain't you never seen a pair of pants before?
- Jeff Shelby: Yeah, but it ain't so much the crust that makes the pie as the filling.
