An unknown but interesting film with a few characters , acceptable production design and theatrical scenarios . Nice version about some unfortune people who join to deal with the happenings when Jesus was imprisoned , subsequently taking place the sad and bloody Christ Passion . The film centers for the previous days that changed the world until the Passion of Christ , death and resurrection . Recreation of the former time to Passion of Christ from the point of view of Ana (Ruth Roman) , her son Rubén (Javier Escrivá) and her lover (Leo Anchoriz) and the Rubén's girlfriend (Paloma Valdés) , four faithful people who try to free him with the help of a group of followers who have been healed by the Messiah . The difficulties in reaching an agreement are the main obstacle. In the various conspirators, selfishness weighs more than faith . They want to free Christ because they fear that, after his death , their ailments will be reproduced. The movie, behind the greatest event in the history of the world. Dealing with one man who changed the world forever .
A thought-provoking and brooding film concerning the group of people who were healed by Christ . Thus , at a yard , several characters meet, such as an ex-blind person , an ex-leper, a resurrected person, all of them were healed by Jesus Christ and they debate what to do when Jesus is arrested and led to the Presidium to judge him. The picture is very well played by great Spanish actors , such as : Javier Escrivá , Leo Anchóriz , Carlos Casaravilla , Ricardo Canales , Manuel Díaz González , Paloma Valdés and a Hollywood actress : Ruth Roman , the latter giving a sensational acting as the resentful and vindictive mother who is angry with Jesus when she asked him to perform the miracle of making her young and he refused . Viewers expecting to see Jesús in this epic will be disapappointed , as he never appears on the screen , (similar to Mohammed in The Message 1976) , as his face is never seen.
It packs atmospheric and evocative cinematography by Antonio Macasoli , though a perfect rematering being really necessary , as well as adequate set and art design by Sigfrido Burmann , being shot in Ballesteros studios, Madrid . As well as rousing and in religious-style musical score by José Buenagú. The movie was decently wriiten and directed by Manuel Mur Oti . Director Mur Oti was a professional craftsman who obtained a great prestige in Cinema Festivals , he started writing scripts for filmmaker Antonio Del Amo . Mur was a dramas expert , his film debut was ¨Un Hombre Va Por El camino¨(1949) , following an awesome melodrama : ¨Cielo Negro¨(51) and ¨Orgullo¨ (55) which he writes , produces and directs . Mur Oti went on shooting the reputed neighborhood drama ¨El Batallón De Las Sombras¨ (56) and ¨El Escuadron Del Panico¨. He , then shoots comedies as ¨Guerra Empieza En Cuba¨, ¨Una Chica De Chicago¨ and ¨Pescando Millones¨. Mur , subsequently , directs a religious drama : ¨Milagro a Los Cobardes¨ (1961) and two films with international cast , such as : ¨La Encadenada¨ with Marisa Mell , Richard Conte and ¨Morir , Dormir , Tal Vez Soñar¨(1975) with Jane Seymour . Rating : 7/10 . Well worth watching . Essential and indispensable seeing for religious cinema fans .
